Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 17 wins since the season started on January 1.

Friday February 20

6.50 p.m. R3 1 Alpha Centauri (5 g Keeper - Country Rose) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier four of eleven in $60,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the turf long course D and carries 58.5kgs. Unlucky not to have won with terrific efforts at his last two starts. Looking to take up a handier position from the handy gate, he again rates a top four chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

6.50 p.m. R3 3 Hardcore Rock (4 g Fastnet Rock - River Dreaming) - Michael Rodd; drew barrier eight eleven in $60,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the turf long course D and carries 57kgs. Has blinkers on to sharpen him up, looks bright and has a plan of racing handy to the pace.

7.20 p.m. R4 2 Sacred Spin (4 g Hard Spun - Destina) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier five of fourteen in the $38,000 Kranji D 1400 metres on the turf long course D and carries 58kgs. Has trained on nicely and may be ridden a touch quieter in order to relax and prove stronger finding the line as a top four chance.

7.50 p.m. R5 5 Makkura (7 m Falkirk - Electric Dream) - Craig Newitt; drew barrier one of ten in the $125,000 Open 1400 metres on the turf long course D and carries 51.5kgs. Her fitness levels are high, trip suits, light weight and drawn the ace to give her every chance.

8.25 p.m. R6 2 Catch Me Great (4 g Circular Quay - Catch Me Deputy) - Michael Rodd; drew barrier seven of fourteen (12 run) in the $65,000 Initiation 1200 metres on the turf long course D and carries 58kgs. Looking bright and well for a return to racing following a good trial, he could finish in the top four in his first attempt on the turf.

8.55 p.m. R7 2 Prince Mag (6 g Zamindar - Princess D'Orange) - Michael Rodd; drew barrier eleven of twelve in the $38,000 Kranji D 2200 metres on the turf long course D and carries 58kgs. Having been earmarked for this race, his pattern of getting back and rounding off solidly can be utilized for him to rate a top four chance.

6.25 p.m. R2 3 Hee's Ego (3 g Tale of the Cat - Quatro) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier four of fourteen in the $75,000 Retricted Maiden 1400 metres on the turf short course A and carries 57kgs. Trainer Mark Walker is happy with his work and condition, and he is ideally drawn to rate a top five chance.

7.00 p.m. R3 1 Free Happy (4 g Elvstroem - Tumbi Umbi) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier one of seven in the $75,000 Novice 1400 metres on the turf short course A and carries 58kgs. On Monday he worked nicely on the course proper and should race very well from barrier one, although facing stronger opposition.

7.30 p.m. R4 6 Appellation (3 g Pentire - Tattinger) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier six of thirteen in the $65,000 Initiation 1400 metres on the turf short course A and carries 54kgs. He has pleased the trainer in his lead up work and given his pedigree should appreciate a step up in distance, to rate a top four chance.

8.05 p.m. R5 7 Sebrose (4 g Sebring - Bramble Rose) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier five of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf short course A and carries 55kgs. Pleasing in the way he is coming up in this preparation, he is working well and developed considerably. Although destined to step over more ground, he rates a top five chance with an encouraging run over the sprint trip.

10.20 p.m. R9 2 Jimmy Rea (3 g Thewayyouare - Maureen Terese) - Tommy Berry; drew the outside barrier of seven in the $200,000 in the Group 3YO Prestige Classic 1400 metres on the turf short course A and carries 54kgs. He has pulled up well from his two-length win over 1200 metres last Friday. With a fast pace anticipated, the plan is to settle back in the field and finish off strongly - as he has done in winning three of his four starts in Singapore.
