Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore.

Friday September 19

10.50 p.m. R2 12 Secret Spice (3 f Sakhee's Secret - Caparison) - Freddy Firdaus (a3); drew barrier six of twelve in the $65,000 Initiation Plate 1400 metres on the Turf Short Course E and carries 48kgs. Trainer Mark Walker feels she can produce an encouraging performance, while the best will be seen over a mile and more.

11.20 p.m. B (5 g Zamindar - Princess D'Orange) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier ten of eleven in the $60,000 Open Benchmark 67 Handicap 1400 metres on the Turf Short Course E and carries 54.5kgs. Returning to racing after finishing second over 2200 metres on July 13, he will be eased off a wide gate and ridden in staying type fashion. He could sneak home into the first four over this trip while fresh, but will improve over more ground.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 12 Fiscal Wings (6 g Fusaichi Pegasus - Cashier) - Hassan Amin (a4); drew barrier five of twelve in the $38,000 Kranji D Stakes 1400 metres on the Turf Short Course E, for claiming riders only, and carries 52.5kgs. Although saddled with a lightweight, he has struggled at this level and should prove more competitive with a drop back in grade.

1.55 a.m. (Saturday) R8 2 Zac Heaven (7 g Danbird - Forette) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew barrier five of twelve in the $38,000 Kranji D Stakes 1400 metres on the Turf Short Course E, for claiming riders only, and carries 55kgs. Although stepping to 1400 metres, the short course with the rail out favours front runners and Zawari is riding in good form. He is certainly a horse that always tries his best.

2.25 a.m. (Saturday) R9 1 Dreamcatcher (6 g Occidental Tourist - Camilla) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew barrier three of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the Turf Short Course E and carries 54kgs. He should be able to take advantage of a good draw before going on to fight out the finish.

Sunday September 21

5.20 p.m. R1 6 Select Gathering (6 g Choisir - Naturally) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier nine of eleven in the $38,000 Kranji Stakes D 1200 metres on the poly track. Struggling to find form of late, Mark Walker cannot find fault with him physically and he will sport gear changes of pacifiers and blinkers in an attempt to sharpen him up.
