Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 38 wins (nine ahead of 2nd) since the season started on 1 January.

Of course the intrepid New Zealand Te Akau racing travellers will head to Kranji tonight to cheer our runners on!

Friday May 15

10.20 p.m. R1 1 Eclair Sensation (5 g Street Sense - Aristocracy) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier ten of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 58kgs. With the style of racing to negate a wide draw, he can finish solidly as a first four chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

10.20 p.m. R1 9 Fiscal Wings (6 g Fusaichi Pegasus - Cashier) - Mansor Firdaus (a2); drew barrier nine of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 49.5kgs. He meets quite a strong field and although under a light weight will need luck from the draw.

1.35 a.m. (Saturday) R7 2 Jimmy Rea (3 g Thewayyouare - Maureen Terese) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier ten of fourteen in the $500,000 Group 1 Singapore Guineas 1600 metres on the turf short course C and carries 57kgs. 1.35 a.m. (Saturday) R7 10 Chase (3 g Nicconi - Speedos) - Shafiq Rusof; drew barrier ten of fourteen in the $500,000 Group 1 Singapore Guineas 1600 metres on the turf short course C and carries 57kgs. Working well and looking great, he prefers to settle off the pace and look for a clear run on the outside. Given a genuine tempo he can finish somewhere in the first four.

2.40 a.m. (Saturday) R9 5 Free Happy (4 g Elvstroem - Tumbi Umbi) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier five of fourteen in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf short course C and carries 56kgs. Pleasing in his work, he can finish first four with this rider aboard from a handy gate.

2.40 a.m. (Saturday) R9 6 Hardcore Rock (4 g Fastnet Rock - River Dreaming) - Mansor Firdaus (a2); drew barrier one of fourteen in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf short course C and carries 53.5kgs. Looking in good order and drawn to receive an economical trip, he may require a drop in class to prove most effective.

9.45 p.m. R6 4 Om (5 g Darci Brahma - Songfest) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew the outside barrier of fourteen in the $80,000 Kranji C 1800 metres on the turf long course A and carries 55kgs. Up in distance, with the wide gate making things tough, he can hopefully work forward to find a reasonable spot and do himself justice in a strong field - one of two in the race from Te Akau.

9.45 p.m. R6 12 Sebrose (4 g Sebring - Bramble Rose) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier one of fourteen in the $80,000 Kranji C 1800 metres on the turf long course A and carries 56.5kgs. 10.55 p.m. R8 5 Golden Sand Steed (5 g Pins - Ambitious) - Joao Moreira; drew barrier six of nine in the $125,000 Kranji A 1200 metres on the turf long course A and carries 55kgs. 1.35 a.m. (Monday) R11 1 Aspen (4 g Alamosa - Kirin Belle) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew barrier four of fourteen in the $80,000 Class 3 1200 metres on the turf long course A and carries 54kgs. Returning to the races looking bright and well, he may find the sprint trip a touch sharp but a nice starting point towards his goal of the Group 1 Singapore Derby (2000m) in July and he could finish top five with a trip to suit - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

1.35 a.m. (Monday) R11 2 Rise ‘n' Shine (4 g Zabeel - Kay's Awake) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier four of fourteen in the $80,000 Class 3 1200 metres on the turf long course A and carries 57kgs. Back from injury after finishing fourth to War Affair on May 16 last year, he has won three of his five races (all with this rider aboard) and will likely be finding the line from off the pace.
