Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 45 wins (7 ahead of 2nd) since the season started on January 1.
Friday June 26
10.50 p.m. R2 10 Our River Dancer (4 g Danehill Dancer - Distinctly) - Mohamed Firdaus (a2); drew barrier eight of eleven in the $35,000 Maiden 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 49kgs. Requiring more distance and a drop back in grade to Class 5, he may find the pace too quick over the sprint trip.

11.20 p.m. R3 9 Zac Command (7 g Ishiguru - Dominica) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier six of eleven in the $60,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 48kgs. Is likely find this a bit tough, but he is not far away from dropping back to Class 5 - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
11.20 p.m. R3 10 Dr Octopus (4 g Perfectly Ready - Kalapana Black) - Mohamed Firdaus (a1.5); drew barrier one of eleven in the $60,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 49kgs. Has been going honest races but will be better placed in Class 5, and may be outpaced here.

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 4 Iking (6 g Holy Roman Emperor - Lacada) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier one of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the turf long course C and carries 54.5kgs. Has pleased trainer Mark Walker in training and both horse and rider are in great form. From barrier one he rates a top four chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 5 Sacred Spin (4 g Hard Spun - Destina) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew barrier five of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the turf long course C and carries 52kgs. Up in grade following a hard fought win, he performs well on turf although this is a tougher assignment.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 5 King Savinsky (4 g Savabeel - Lynisky) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier one of sixteen (14 run) in the Class 5 1600 metres on the turf long course C and carries 58.5kgs. Having pleased in his work, he has the right barrier and rider to rate a top four chance in a race where Ravoux (2) appears hardest to beat - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 10 Ready Fortune (5 g More than Ready - Bahira) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew barrier fifteen of sixteen (14 run) in the Class 5 1600 metres on the turf long course C and carries 53.5kgs. Resuming with a nice weight, he will be ridden patiently from a wide gate. With luck in running he could sneak into the top four.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 2 Golden Sand Steed (5 g Pins - Ambitious) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew the outside barrier of ten $100,000 Benchmark 97 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 57kgs. Strips in great order and the trip is ideal, but he has drawn wide and will require luck in running to rate a top four chance.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 4 Storm Trooper (3 g Tavistock - Shock) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew barrier five of nine in the $75,000 Novice 1200 metres on the turf long course C and carries 54kgs. Resuming, the trip could be a touch short but it is a nice starting point. In a race where Ravoux (2) looks hard to beat, we would be happy to see him running home strongly before stepping to 1400 metres - one of three in the race for Te Akau.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 7 Molly Browne (3 f Saperavi - Patient) - Zukifli Zuriman (a2); drew barrier seven of nine in the $75,000 Novice 1200 metres on the turf long course C and carries 53.5kgs. She faces a stronger field than last start and will require plenty of pace to get into the finish - one of three in the race for Te Akau.
1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 8 Secret Spice (3 f Sakhee's Secret - Caparison) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier six of nine in the $75,000 Novice 1200 metres on the turf long course C and carries 51.5kgs. Backing up, she may require a drop back to Class 5 in order to prove competitive - one of three in the race for Te Akau.

He has trained on well since his last start third and the prospect of some rain could work favourably for him to rate a top four chance in an even field.

Ideally drawn and having pleased trainer Mark Walker in training, he rates a top three chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
6.50 p.m. R5 8 Om (5 g Darci Brahma - Songfest) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier seven of eight in the $100,000 Kranji B 1800 metres on the turf long course D and carries 52.5kgs. Had no luck last time, but otherwise in good form and with luck he rates a top four prospect under the light weight.

7.25 p.m. R6 2 Joy and Happy (4 g Holy Roman Emperor - Marmoso) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier one of nine in the $65,000 Initiation 1600 metres on the turf long course D and carries 58kgs. On the backup following a good third last week, drawing the ace is a bonus and although a tougher race than a Maiden he is expected to race well over the mile - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
7.25 p.m. R6 7 Speed Craft (3 g Mastercraftsman - Velvet and Satin) - Zukifli Zuriman (a2); drew barrier seven of nine in the $65,000 Initiation 1600 metres on the turf long course D and carries 54.5kgs. Working well through the week and appearing in good order, he has been without much luck in his three starts and while a staying type the mile should suit him.

Has worked up well during the week and should get a nice trip in midfield. Side winkers are added to improve his focus and he rates a top four chance.
