Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 50 wins (9 ahead of 2nd) since the season started on 1 January .

Friday July 17

5.50 p.m. R3 1 OM (5g Darci Brahma - Songfest) - Z Zuriman (a2); drawn barrier five, the topweight carrying 59kgs will take benefit from the 2kgs apprentice weight relief.  Ridden by apprentice riders at each of his last seven starts has proven an assist to his performance, with him being six times a cheque-bearer for his connections.  Back in class, over a favoured distance, on the short course B expect him to play a major role in proceedings as he approaches $300,000 in career earnings.

6.50 p.m. R5 2 Fiscal Wings (6g Fusaichi Pegasus - Cashier) - M Zaki (a1); with recent battling form, this 6YO is a character who has been known to surprise in this grade.  The wide draw of 13 won't aid his chances for a return to the top three finishers and he will require a lot to go in his favour.

7.55 p.m. R7 2 Clermont Club (5g Casino Prince - Razzle) - Alan Munro; drawn the ace barrier draw of 1, he should be able to take up a forward position in the early stages of the race. The step up to the mile will suit him, and with one of Singapore's leading jockeys' aboard in Alan Munro, he has solid claims of being a first four contender.

8.25 p.m. R8 3 Falcon (4g Falkirk - Grand Princess) - Corey Brown; has been slightly disappointing of late, but has shown previously that he can be consistently competitive, and hold his form. With some gear changes made, he will be ridden by top international jockey Corey Brown as the 4YO looks to make a return to form.

9.00 p.m. R9 10 Zac Command (7g Ishiguru - Dominica) - CK Ng (a3); has unfortunately drawn very wide, however CK Ng who rode at his previous start, will climb aboard again and claims three kilos off which will be a significant assist. He is a consistent performer and despite the draw, with an ounce of luck in the running, he has the attributes to be in contention once again.

Sunday July 19

5.20 p.m. R2 3 Deluge (4g Guillotine - Flood) - Michael Rodd; one of two Te Akau horses in the event, Deluge has trialled recently in preparation for this race. He is drawn nicely at three in the 14 horse field with top Australian rider Michael Rodd taking over the reins. He has been looking bright and feeling well in himself and there is no reason why with some luck in the running he can't finish close up in this large field.

5.20 p.m. R2 7 Damon (3g O'Reilly - Pretty) - Corey Brown; the second horse in the race for Te Akau, Damon impressed on debut when finishing an unlucky third. He has come through that run very well and his work has been encouraging heading into Sunday's race. He has drawn gate six and with international rider Corey Brown aboard, looks to be a strong hope in this field.

5.50 p.m. R3 10 Molly Browne (3f Saperavi - Patient) - Alan Munro; has drawn barrier three and senior lightweight jockey Alan Munro is booked to ride this filly. From the gate, she should find a nice position in the run. She has been very consistent of late and her work has been eye-catching. Molly Browne is stepping up in company but looks to be a good each way chance with the luxury weight of 52 kilos.

7.25 p.m. R6 6 Double Jeopardy (4g Mettre En Jeu - Flyin' Finnish) - Corey Brown; drawn ten of eleven, Double Jeopardy returns from a spell with Corey Brown taking the mount. The 4YO looks terrific and has recently had a quiet trial in preparation for this race. He has proven to be a consistent performer and even though 1200m will be short of his best, his work suggests that he can be a first four contender in the race.

8.25 p.m. R8 6 Our River Dancer (4g Danehill Dancer - Distinctly) - Corey Brown; has been disappointing of late but he is looking well and his work suggests that there could be some improvement in him. He has drawn ten in this thirteen horse field. Corey Brown takes the ride and with his wealth of experience, Our River Dancer looks to be a competitive place chance.

10.00 p.m. R11 6 Storm Trooper (3g Tavistock - Shock) - Benny Woodworth; meets a strong Class 4 field but his career form to date suggests he is up to this class. Benny Woodworth takes the ride from gate six and Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker is happy with his condition leading into the race. Storm Trooper looks to be one of the leading contenders in what appears to be an even field, to run over the 1400m.
