Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview
24 July, 2015
Te Akau horses racing in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 50 wins (7 ahead of 2nd) since the season started on 1 January.
Friday 24 July
R1 10.20 p.m. 1 Dr Octopus (4g Perfectly Ready - Kalapana Black) Manuel Nunes; his last start for third, to finish 1.5 lengths from the winner was very encouraging. Drawn barrier five in this nine horse field, champion jockey Nunes has the skills to find him a nice position in the running. He should be a major player in the first race of the night. One of two contenders in the race for Te Akau.

R1 10.20 p.m. 5 Falcon (4g Falkirk - Grand Princess) Mohd Zaki (a1); has been disappointing of late. He showed very consistent form earlier in the season and a return to that form would see him competitive. Mohd Zaki will take the one kilo off and drawn barrier three, Falcon gets his chance tonight for that return to form.

R2 10.50 p.m. 13 Hee's Ego (3g Tale of the Cat - Quatro) C K Ng (a4); resumes off a spell since April. He is drawn twelve in this fourteen horse field and his form from last preparation suggests he may want further than tonight's' race over 1200m. However with the 4 kilos off with the apprentice C K Ng aboard there is no reason why he can't be a place chance.

R3 11.20 p.m. 5 Lucky Dapper (5g Testa Rossa - Buttonhook) Alan Munro; has been freshened up leading into tonight's race. Senior rider Alan Munro takes the reins and has drawn six of eleven. He is fresh and ready to line up tonight and there should be plenty of improvement from tonight's' race heading forward into this campaign.

R3 11.20 p.m. 11 Zac Command (7g Ishiguru - Dominica) C K Ng (a4); has been finding Class 4 a little tough of late. He is drawn the ace barrier draw in this field of eleven. The four kilo claim of C K Ng will be a huge assist and he will get the best possible chance with the claim and barrier draw.

R4 11.50 p.m. 4 Clermont Club (5g Casino Prince - Razzle) C K Ng (a4); was a bit disappointing last start, but with his fitness improving, he looks nicely positioned tonight. Unfortunately he has drawn twelve out of thirteen, so very wide. However the apprentice claim taking four kilos off will be a huge assist. Whatever he does tonight he will only improve on, and has the chance to run in the money.

R5 12.20 a.m. 2 Indian Jade (5g Sleeping Indian - Flora Burn) R Zawari (a3); resumes off a short spell. While 1000m will be short of his best, he showed last campaign that he is a tough and consistent horse. Apprentice Zawari will take three kilos off his back and he is drawn seven in this eight horse field. He should only improve on tonight's run and he has the credentials to be in the first four home.

R6 12.50 a.m. 9 Zac Gallant (5g Darci Brahma - Clermont Rose) Z Zuriman (a1); he is getting back down in the weights now. The apprentice claim sees one kilo off and he is drawn nicely at two of eleven. He has the conditions to suit tonight and is back down at a competitive weight and should be there in the finish.

R7 1.20 a.m. Kam's Comet (3g Danroad - It's Spring Again) Manuel Nunes; super promising galloper and top rider Manuel Nunes sticks with the horse. He is drawn the outside in this ten horse field, however he has shown enough ability in his four start career to overcome this negative. He should be a leading hope in this field and hopefully notch another win to extend our Singapore trainer Mark Walker's lead in the Trainers' Premiership.

R8 1.55 a.m. 1 Keen Dragon (4g Hidden Dragon - Wasatch) Manuel Nunes; is chasing a hatrick of wins and looks to have every chance to do so despite drawing the outside in this eleven horse field. He has been super impressive and there is no reason why he can't make it three in a row for his connections.

R9 2.25 a.m. 4 Free Happy (4g Elvstroem - Tumbi Umbi) R Zawari (a3); is one of two horses in the race for team Te Akau. He is drawn ten in this thirteen horse field and he will be assisted by the three kilos off. He has been very consistent of late and should be right in the finish again.

R9 2.25 a.m. 9 Brahms and Liszt (5g Coat's Choice - Symphony) Manuel Nunes; the second of two Te Akau trained runners in the last and the step to the mile will suit him. Forget his last run as he was unlucky hen blocked at a vital stage in the running. He is drawn four in the field of thirteen and will carry a light weight. He looks to have a definite place chance in the race.

Sunday 26 July
R1 4.50 p.m. 5 Hardcore Rock (4g Fastnet Rock - River Dreaming) Manuel Nunes; he is an ultra consistent horse who has been working well and looks in fantastic condition. He has drawn eight in this fourteen horse field and with Manuel Nunes aboard he should find a nice spot early in the race. One of two in the race for Te Akau, he looks to be a leading hope in this field.

R1 4.50 p.m. 11 Star Beauty (4m Tale of the Cat - Quick Start) R Zawari (a3); the three kilo claim will be a huge assist and she looked good two starts back when finishing third. She is drawn the outside which doesn't make her task easy but we expect to see her hitting the line strongly.

R3 5.50 p.m. 2 Our Touche (4g Thorn Park - Centapin) Manuel Nunes; classy former New Zealand galloper (known in New Zealand as Touche) is having his first start in Singapore and for the Te Akau team. He has been working well and is drawn well in barrier one. He looks to be a top chance in what will be his Singapore debut.

R6 7.30 p.m. 11 Appellation (3g Pentire - Tattinger) Timothy Bell; a last start winner, with Australian rider, Timothy Bell to take the reins. He will need luck from his wide draw of eleven in this sixteen horse field, but with the right run he is more than capable of finishing in the first four.

R8 8.40 p.m. 2 Alpha Centauri (5g Keeper - Country Rose) Manuel Nunes; he's a very tough horse, who is so consistent. He has drawn ten in this twelve horse field. Despite his wide draw he should be very competitive yet again. It will be the 25th Singapore start for the son of Keeper purchased by David Ellis and he looks likely to add to his $256,740 in stakes' already won in Singapore.

R9 9.15 p.m. 7 My Lucky Strike (3g Charge Forward - Hanna Rossa) Manuel Nunes; is a very exciting young horse, only being beaten in one of his seven race day starts. He steps up to the 1200m which is a slight query but on paper he looks to be the one to beat again.

R10 9.50 p.m. 5 Eaton's Gold (6g Jet Spur - Road Ranger) R Shafiq (a1); is in great form this campaign. He is drawn the outside gate in this field of thirteen. He is a very honest galloper and despite his wide barrier draw he must represent a definite place chance in this field.

R11 10.20 p.m. 14 Irish Rebel (5g Danehill Dancer - Ballycairn) Alan Munro; has been close up in recent races. He has drawn the outside gate in a very large field which will be a disadvantage. He has shown previously that he can hold his consistent form and can be a first four contender in the race.
http://www.turfclub.com.sg/Racing/Pages/ViewRaceCard/3618/11
R11 10.20 p.m. 15 Home Run Hero (3g Purrealist - Amatila) Timothy Bell; he is the first horse on the ballot. If he can get a start he should be a leading chance in this race after his outstanding debut run for second from the ten gate in a large field.
