Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 53 wins (3 ahead of 2nd) since the season started on January 1.
Friday August 7
4.50 p.m. R1 1 Double Jeopardy (5 g Mettre En Jeu - Flyin' Finnish) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier one of twelve in the $35,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the turf long course C and carries 59kgs. Does carry top weight but he looks great, has drawn the ace and has the leading rider aboard to give him every chance of a first four finish - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
4.50 p.m. R1 10 Our River Dancer (5 g Danehill Dancer - Distinctly) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier eleven of twelve in the $35,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the turf long course C and carries 48.5kgs. The plan is to go forward under a light weight with this promising apprentice aboard and hopefully see him steal a break on the field.

5.20 p.m. R2 8 Blixem (3 g Shocking - Aggressive) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier eight of eleven in the $60,000 Initiation Stakes 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 50.5kgs. On debut, he has taken a little time to acclimatise but is working well and will only improve.

5.50 p.m. R3 1 Our Touche (5 g Thorn Park - Centapin) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier nine of eleven in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 57.5kgs. Pleasing since finishing fourth in his first start in Singapore, he has trialled well on this surface and appears a top three prospect.

6.50 p.m. R5 1 Zac Command (8 g Ishiguru - Dominca) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier eight of twelve in the $35,000 Class 5 on the turf long course C and carries 55kgs. Dropping back to Class 5, the claim from top weight will assist in him rating a top five chance.

7.25 p.m. R6 6 Deluge (4 g Guillotine - Flood) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier four of twelve in the $35,000 Maiden 1400 metres on the turf long course C and carries 55.5kgs. Trainer Mark Walker is happy with the horse and from an ideal draw he rates a top three chance with pacifiers on.

8.25 p.m. R8 6 Lucky Dapper (6 g Testa Rossa - Buttonhook) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier three of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 54.5kgs. Working nicely, with the leading rider aboard, from a nice draw, he brings solid form to the race but is in quite a strong grade.

8.55 p.m. R9 1 My Lucky Strike (4 g Charge Forward - Hanna Rossa) - Manoel Nunes; drew the outside barrier of eight in the $100,000 Kranji B 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 59.5kgs. Despite drawing wide and carrying top weight, he still rates a good each way chance in this field - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
8.55 p.m. R9 7 Kam's Comet (4 g Danroad - It's Spring Again) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier three of eight in the $100,000 Kranji B 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 54kgs. Comes in fresh, feeling very good and while the trip could prove a bit sharp he should be finding the line solidly.

9.30 p.m. R10 2 Irish Rebel (6 g Danehill Dancer - Ballycairn) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier eight of eleven in the $60,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf long course C and carries 57kgs. With the leading jockey aboard he is expected to take good improvement from the run and prove more competitive next time out over a mile - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
9.30 p.m. R10 4 Storm Trooper (4 g Tavistock - Shock) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier ten of eleven in the $60,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf long course C and carries 57kgs. Without a lot of room in the corresponding event last start, he does have a wide draw to contend with but should be finding the line strongly from off the pace.

10.00 p.m. R10 2 Free Happy (5 g Elvstroem - Tumbi Umbi) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier two of twelve in the $60,000 Class 4 1600 metres on the turf long course C and carries 57kgs. Has pleased both the trainer and rider in his work and from a nice gate he is capable of a good performance.

Able to settle and relax in running he could finish somewhere amongst the first four - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
4.50 p.m. R1 12 Zac Gallant (6 g Darci Brahma - Clermont Rose) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier eight of fourteen (12 run) in the $35,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 57kgs. Up in ratings following a pleasing last start win, he has trained on nicely and although facing a stronger field he boasts the form to finish in the first five.

Makes his debut in Singapore, and expected to suit racing over more distance. He has trialled nicely and with the addition of a good draw and leading rider, could figure in the first four.

Stricken with bad luck in his races of late, the jockey was happy with his work through the week and while No. 3 (Ares) appears tough to beat he rates a top four prospect - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
5.50 p.m. R3 8 Molly Browne (4 m Saperavi - Patient) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier five of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf long course D and carries 52.5kgs. She comes in nicely weighted and any easing of the ground would aid her chances of figuring in the first four.

Ran a top race off a wide trip for fourth last start and after threatening in this grade he appears a solid each way chance again.

Racing solidly of late over 1600 & 1800 metres, he should be finding the line in good fashion over the sprint distance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
9.25 p.m. R10 2 Eatons Gold (7 g Jet Spur - Road Ranger) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier thirteen of fourteen (12 run) in the $60,000 Benchmark 67 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 53kgs. Did very well for second after working to lead from a wide gate and again has to overcome an outside barrier draw.
