Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 54 wins (1 ahead of 2nd) since the season started on 1 January .

Friday 14 August

10.20 p.m. R1 3 Ready Fortune (6 g More than Ready - Bahira) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier two of eleven in the $35,000 Class 5 1700 metres on the poly track and carries 56kgs. Ran well for second last start and rates a top four chance from an inside draw.

10.50 p.m. R2 6 Damon (4 g O'Reilly - Pretty) - Corey Brown; drew barrier six of fourteen (12 run) in the $65,000 Initiation Stakes 1400 metres on the turf long course D and carries 57.5kgs. Working well, he appears one of the main chances despite meeting a strong field.

Unlucky in her races, she continues to please the trainer and rates a first four chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

11.50 p.m. R4 5 Hee's Ego (4 g Tale of the Cat - Quatro) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier eight of twelve in the $35,000 Maiden 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 55.5kgs. Likely to find the distance too short, he would benefit from a fast pace but may prove better placed in Class 5.

The task is made tough from a wide draw, but luck could see him produce a nice effort.

Working well and bright in condition, she has the draw in her favour to run well - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 13 Appellation (4 g Pentire - Tattinger) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier seven of fourteen (12 run) in the $38,000 Kranji D 1400 metres on the turf long course D and carries 52.5kgs. He requires a scratching in order to make the field.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 7 Alpha Centauri (4 g Keeper - Country Rose) - Brad Parnham; drew barrier two of eight in the $150,000 Causeway Classic (Gr. 3, 1800m) on the poly track and carries 50.5kgs. Pleasing since his last start win, he meets a small but talented field and it will be interesting to see how he measures up.

Never in the race from an outside gate last time, he has again drawn wide and will require a top ride.

5.50 p.m. R3 5 Free Happy (5 g Elvstroem - Tumbi Umbi) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier five of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 1800 metres on the turf long course E and carries 52kgs. He finished fifth from a nice draw last week and steps up from a mile - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

5.50 p.m. R3 6 Irish Rebel (6 g Danehill Dancer - Ballycairn) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier three of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 1800 metres on the turf long course E and carries 56kgs. Has done well since his handy last start effort for sixth and appears capable of getting some prize money from a good draw.

8.25 p.m. R8 1 Prince Mag (6 g Zamindar - Princess D'Orange) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier seven of fourteen in the $38,000 Kranji D 1800 metres on the turf long course E and carries 58kgs. Freshened since winning, he is up in rating but remains in the same grade and expected to run home strongly - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

8.25 p.m. R8 8 Clermont Club (6 g Casino Prince - Razzle) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier two of fourteen in the $38,000 Kranji D 1800 metres on the turf long course E and carries 55.5kgs. He appears bright after varying his work, which will hopefully translate to a good performance from the draw.
