Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 57 wins since the season started on 1 January.
Friday August 28
10.50 p.m. R1 2 Secret Spice (4 m Sakhee's Secret - Caparison) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier six of nine in the $35,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 56kg. Pleasing when finishing second in Class 5 last start, she should run home strongly for an in-form rider and rates a top four chance in an even field - one of two in race for Te Akau.
10.50 p.m. R1 4 Zac Command (8 g Ishiguru - Dominca) - Wei Sheng Chan (a3); drew the outside barrier of nine in the $35,000 Class 5 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 53kg. Although preferring grass, he should race handy with blinker/pacifiers on and could finish in the first five.

11.20 p.m. R2 3 Duran (4 g Darci Brahma - Breezed) - Ronald Woodworth; drew barrier eleven of twelve in the $65,000 Initiation 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 57.5kgs. Having his first start in Singapore, he is expected to run home solidly before improving over more ground - one of three in the race for Te Akau.
11.20 p.m. R2 4 Never Defeated (4 g O'Reilly - Striptease) - Zulkifli Zuriman (a1); drew barrier ten of twelve in the $65,000 Initiation 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 56.5kgs. Also having his first start in Singapore, he too is expected to be running home nicely before racing over more distance.
11.20 p.m. R2 10 Captain Classique (3 g Captain Rio - Lady Classique) - Harry Kasim (a1); drew barrier nine of twelve in the $65,000 Initiation 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 49.5kg. Has trialled well on the poly and a top five finish would be pleasing.

11.50 p.m. R3 2 Ready Fortune (6 g More Than Ready - Bahira) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier four of ten in the $35,000 Class 5 1600 metres on the polytrack and carries 55.5kgs. Favoured in this class, he brings the right form to warrant another placing in the top four.

In good form, but again plagued with a wide draw, he appears one of three top chances with this top rider aboard - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

Positives: good form for both the horse and rider and from the inside gate he receives a top chance to break through.

6.00 p.m. R3 3 Asprey (4 g Alamosa - Bond Street) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew the outside barrier of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 55kgs. This horse had good form in NZ, trialled up well and, although destined for longer journeys a top four performance is expected - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
6.00 p.m. R3 5 Star Beauty (5 m Tale of the Cat - Quick Start) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier five of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 48kgs. She had her race scrapped after lacking entries but could prove a sneaky place chance.

Carries clear top weight but somewhat offset by a quality rider and he always gives a good account - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
7.00 p.m. R5 9 King Savinsky (5 g Savabeel - Lynisky) - Mansor Firdaus (a2); drew barrier one of nine in the $80,000 Kranji C 1800 metres on the polytrack and carries 48.5kgs. He won well last week and although up in class, his weight burden is minimal.

She was ridden well by this jockey from a wide gate last time and with luck rates a top four chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
7.35 p.m. R6 9 Falcon (5 g Falkirk - Grand Princess) - Nooresh Juglall; drew barrier ten of fourteen (12 run) in the $35,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 51.5kgs. He receives an ideal opportunity under a light weight, looking to run home strongly into the first four.

8.15 p.m. R7 11 Dr Octopus (5 g Perfectly Ready - Kalapana Black) - Mohd Zaki (a1); drew barrier six of twelve in the $38,000 Kranji D 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 54kgs. Scratched following a barrier mishap last week, he will be looking to travel on pace.

Ge trialled well on Tuesday and sporting mile form in Sydney, this appears an ideal starting point. Satisfaction would see him running home into the first five - one of two in the race for Te Akau.
9.50 p.m. R10 8 Clermont Club (6 g Casino Prince - Razzle) - Choon Ng (a4); drew barrier two of eleven in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the polytrack and carries 47.5kgs. He requires a drop in class to be competitive again.
