Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, where trainer Mark Walker leads the premiership with 62 wins since the season started on 1 January . 

Friday 18 September 

10.20 p.m. R1 1 Dr Octopus (5 g Perfectly Ready - Kalapana Black) - Manoel Nunes; drew the outside barrier of fourteen (12 run) in the $35,000 Class 5 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 59kgs. In good form and despite the draw and top weight he rates a top five chance with luck in running.

11.20 p.m. R3 2 Idyllic Scenery (4 g Northern Meteor - Secret Society) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier five of eleven in the $60,000 Class 4 1400 metres on the turf long course A and carries 56kgs. Improved for his first up run, he worked nicely for the rider on Tuesday and rates a top four chance on this course over 1400m.

11.50 p.m. R4 9 King Savinsky (5 g Savabeel - Lynisky) - Mohamad Firdaus (a2); drew barrier one of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 1800 metres on the polytrack and carries 48.5kgs. With factors to suit (weight & draw), he should get his chance to prove competitive.

Working well and in good form, he meets a tougher field but still rates a top four chance with luck in running.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 1 Golden Sand Steed (6 g Pins - Ambitious) - Chuen Wong (a2); drew barrier two of ten in the $100,000 Kranji B 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 57.5kgs. Meets a strong field, but is fresh for this and always rates a genuine chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R7 10 Eatons Gold (7 g Jetspur - Road Ranger) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier one of ten in the $100,000 Kranji B 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 52.5kgs. In a race where No. 4 & 7 appear hardest to beat, he has freshened nicely to rate a top five chance.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 4 Chase (4 g Nicconi - Speedos) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier ten of twelve in the $80,000 Class 3 1400 metres on the turf long course A and carries 54.5kgs. He combines well with this rider and gets his chance on the long course to rate a top four chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 6 Om (6 g Darci Brahma - Songfest) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier two of twelve in the $80,000 Class 3 1400 metres on the turf long course A and carries 55kgs. Has the draw and rider factor, but needs to find a couple of lengths to prove competitive in this field.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 2 Rockfast (4 g Fastnet Rock - Gypsy Princess) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier one of fifteen (14 run) in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf long course A and carries 57.5kgs. Although short of his best, he strikes an ideal race to make his Singaporean debut. No. 4, 7 & 10 all have very strong form but with the right passage he rates a winning chance - first of three in the race for Te Akau.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 5 Asprey (4 g Alamosa - Bond Street) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew barrier nine of fifteen (14 run) in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf long course A and carries 56kgs. Will get back in running and with luck he is capable of a top five finish - second of three in the race for Te Akau.

2.20 a.m. (Saturday) R9 14 Clermont Club (6 g Casino Prince - Razzle) - Mohd Jalani (a4); drew barrier six of fifteen (14 run) in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the turf long course A and carries 50kgs. Outpaced and outclassed over the sprint trip, but can turn his form around once back in the Class 5. The third of three in the race for Te Akau.

4.45 p.m. R1 1 Aguila Azteca (4 m Minstrel Court - La Conga) - Yusoff Salim (a4); drew barrier two of twelve in the $35,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the turf long course C and carries 55kgs. Has worked well through the week, claims as top weight, and rates a top four chance.

5.15 p.m. R2 8 Miss Waimataitai (3 f Saperavi - A La Votre) - Mohamad Firdaus (a2); drew the outside barrier of eight in the $65,000 Initiation 1000 metres on the polytrack and carries 47.5kgs. On debut, she is a filly with natural speed that has pleased in two trials and strips in terrific order to rate a top four chance with luck from the wide gate.

In terrific form, his pedigree suggests he should run the distance out and rate a top four chance - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

6.15 p.m. R4 4 Double Jeopardy (5 g Mettre En Jeu - Flyin' Finnish) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier two of twelve in the $35,000 Class 5 1900 metres on the polytrack and carries 57gks. He has trained on nicely and rates a top four chance with this rider aboard.

He is eligible for this race, but meets a strong field and may require an easier grade to prove more competitive.

Resuming, he trialled well on Tuesday and could finish amongst the top five in a fresh state - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

9.55 p.m. R11 5 Our Touche (5 g Thorn Park - Centapin) - Shafiq Rusof (a1); drew the outside barrier of fourteen (12 run) in the $60,000 Class 4 1100 metres on the polytrack and carries 57kgs. He backs up with visor blinkers on and likely to ease from a wide gate before looking to finish the race off strongly.
