Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore.
Friday October 24

11.20 p.m. R1 9 Dreammaker (5 g Excellent Art - White River) - Harry Kasim (a1); drew barrier seven of twelve in the $35,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf long course E and carries 54kgs. Fitter for his first up run and with blinkers on, trainer Mark Walker would like to see some give in the ground for him - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

11.20 p.m. R1 10 Gods Speed (4 g Circular Quay - Gods Ear) - Corey Brown; drew the outside barrier of twelve in the $35,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf long course E and carries 54.5kgs. The horse has a few things in his favour, apart from the wide draw, and although likely to settle off the pace he should find the line strongly.

11.50 p.m. R2 7 Catch Me Great (3 g Circular Quay - Catch Me Deputy) - Corey Brown; drew barrier one of twelve in the $65,000 Initiation 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 56kgs. He has trained on well since a good debut and appears capable of finishing in the first three, after a nice trip from the inside gate - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

11.50 p.m. R2 12 So What (3 f Saperavi - Zorina) - Lisa Allpress; drew barrier ten of twelve in the $65,000 Initiation 1000 metres on the poly track and carries 50.5kgs. She has freshened for the sprint trip and appears bright, but has drawn awkwardly. The aim is to settle back and have her make ground.

1.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 4 Dreamcatcher (6 g Occidental Tourist - Camilla) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier 6 of 11 in the $60,000 Class 4 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 57kgs. A horse that always gives one-hundred percent; he appears a reasonable chance in an even field.

2.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 8 Double Jeopardy (4 g Mettre En Jeu - Flyin' Finnish) - Harry Kasim (a1); drew barrier eight of twelve in the $35,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the poly track and carries 54kgs. Although not expected to be competitive over the sprint trip, he is building fitness for things ahead and the aim is to see him relax and find the line.

Sunday October 26

5.50 p.m. R1 1 Toast's Angel (5 m Fast ‘N' Famous - Haberdashery) - Rawali Zawari (a3); drew barrier ten of twelve in the $38,000 Kranji D 1200 metres on the turf course A and carries 55kgs. Finishing third last weekend, trainer Mark Walker feels she will appreciate a good sole of grass and with luck from the draw rates a top five chance again.

6.20 p.m. R2 10 Regal Red (3 g Shinko King - Red Carrera) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier eight of twelve in the $70,000 Maiden 1200 metres on the turf course A and carries 53kgs. In the early stages of settling in Singapore, he worked home nicely for seventh on debut and again turns out for a sprint trip. Destined to get over more ground, he will be patiently handled and likely take a break following the race.

7.20 p.m. R4 1 Iking (6 g Holy Roman Emperor - Lacada) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier one of twelve in the $38,000 Kranji D 1200 metres on the turf course A and carries 58kgs. Looking bright and well, he returns to racing off a long spell and an encouraging performance will see him step up to more favoured distances.

8.25 p.m. R6 13 Zac Star Destroyer (8 g Cape Cross - Noble Air) - Lisa Allpress; drew barrier two of fourteen in the $35,000 Class 5 1400 metres on the turf course A and carries 52kgs. Has done well since winning and although facing a stronger field he is a genuine performer, aided by a good draw.

8.55 p.m. R7 14 Prince Mag (5 g Zaminder - Princess D'Orange) - Lisa Allpress; drew barrier six of sixteen in the $150,000 Eldorado Classic 2200 metres on the turf course A and carries 50kgs. Facing a huge challenge, assessment of his performance could see him compete in a race like the Gold Cup.

10.35 p.m. R10 1 Hardcore Rock (4 g Fastnet Rock - River Dreaming) - Manoel Nunes; drew barrier three of thirteen in the $38,000 Kranji D 1200 metres on the turf course A and carries 58kgs. He strips in good order to resume from a spell and although at a distance short of his best he can produce a cheeky effort from a nice gate.
