Te Akau Singapore Weekend Preview

Te Akau horses racing at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore.

Friday 5 September

12.20 a.m. (Saturday) R5 11 Bazinga (7 g Fastnet Rock - La Campanella) - Lisa Allpress; has drawn barrier one of fourteen in the $80,000 Kranji C 1100 metres on the poly track and carries 55kgs. He was a course and distance winner last time out, in Class 4, has won eight races for $387,000 in stakes and although shown to hold his form previously he faces a stiff assignment in this field.

12.50 a.m. (Saturday) R6 9 Zac Suggestion (5 g Any Suggestion - Paris Sky) - Lisa Allpress; has drawn barrier eight of nine in the $60,000 Benchmark 67 2000 metres on the turf course A and carries only 50kgs. The race that trainer Mark Walker intended for the horse was cancelled, and as such he strikes a much stronger field, but the prospect of forecast rain would assist his chances.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 4 Zac Heaven (7 g Danbird - Forette) - Hassan Amin (a4); has drawn barrier nine of thirteen in the $38,000 Kranji D 1100 metres, from claiming riders only, on the poly track and carries 54kgs. This jockey guided him into third last time out and the horse has worked well since. He is a very genuine performer and able to receive some respite on the pace could see him finish in the top four - one of two in the race for Te Akau.

1.50 a.m. (Saturday) R8 8 Select Gathering (6 g Choisir - Naturally) - Razali Zawari (a3); has drawn barrier ten of thirteen in the $38,000 Kranji D 1100 metres, from claiming riders only, on the poly track and carries 55kgs. He comes in fresh, wears side winkers instead of blinkers and although trainer Mark Walker is happy with his condition, and work, he may require a drop back in grade before being competitive again.

Sunday 7 September

5.20 p.m. R2 10 Chase (3 g Nicconi - Speedos) - Zulkifli Zuriman (a2) has drawn barrier twelve of thirteen in the $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1200 metres on the turf short course B and carries only 50.5kgs. He makes his debut from a wide draw in a strong field and will be taught to relax off the pace and run home.

6.50 p.m. R5 5 Fiscal Wings (6 g Fusaichi Pegasus - Cashier) - Lisa Allpress; has drawn barrier three of eleven in the $38,000 Kranji D 1400 metres on the turf short course B and carries 56.5kgs. A winner last time out in a Class 5 1200 metres on the poly track, he three wins and nine placed efforts have earned stakes of $115,000. With Gold Line (Align) expected to dominate betting, he could prove a sneaky place chance.

10.05 p.m. R11 3 Single Act (5 g Bachelor Duke - Consumer) - Manoel Nunes; has drawn barrier two of eleven in the $38,000 Kranji D 1400 metres on the turf short course B and carries 58kgs. He has trained on nicely since his good fresh up effort for fourth. The draw is ideal and Mark feels the 1400 metres should suit. The field is not overly strong and he appears a top five chance.

10.35 p.m. R12 4 King Savinsky (4 g Savabeel - Lynisky) - Lisa Allpress; has drawn barrier five of ten in the $60,000 Class 4 Division 1 1200 metres on the turf short course B and carries 55kgs. A winner for trainer Jason Bridgman over 1950 metres, he also finished fourth to 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner Atlante (Fastnet Rock) in the Hollaway Stakes (Listed, 1600m) at Riccarton. Although destined to get over more ground, he makes his Singaporean debut over a sprint trip and will be finding the line in staying fashion.
