Te Akau Sunday Update

I really enjoyed a terrific day at Matamata on Saturday.

Our 2YO colt Rockfast went a super race to finish a very close second in the Listed Matamata Slipper at just his second start.  He ahs lots of improvement in him.  This Fastnet Rock colt is part of my 2013 stallion syndicate and is the only one of four young colts to race thus far - we have three more colts to step out and they are all showing some talent.

Flaming who lined up in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes looks to be now in season which explains a lot and she has pulled up sore and will be vetted.  She is a very good filly and we will see lots of her in the future for sure.

There was a great crowd on course and it really was a fun day.  I got home about 6pm and Karyn was happy as her First Call "bet of the day" had won yet again, following on from her last week's selection breaking a track record when winning.

We were also rapt to see an Exceed and Excel filly win the $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond in Melbourne.

This weekend we have started selling shares in a beautiful Exceed and Excel filly who is a dead ringer for yesterday's elite winner.  Exceed and Excel is a truly great sire and his progeny are early maturing horses in most cases, and this filly looks as if she will be such.  Watch out Karaka Million here we come - I bought this filly to win that race!

Her family is absolutely jam packed with European Group 1 winners - for example Zafonic (2000 Guineas and Newmarket Dewhurst Stakes in UK and later a sire), Regal Parade (Deauville Prix), Midday (won the same Grp 1 the Goodwood three times), Reams of Verse (The Oaks in the UK and Ascot Fillies Mile), Elmaamul (UK and later a sire).

She cost $120,000 plus GST so a 10% share in her is $12,000 plus GST or a 5% share. would be only $6000 plus GST.
