Te Akau Sunday Update

David writes:

Well there is a huge smile on the Te Akau farmer's face today - we have had sensational rain overnight, the best since November - which gives you and idea of just how dry the Waikato has been.

This rain will be just marvellous for the farm especially as all our lime and super phosphate is on and the rain has come early enough for us to get some really good growth.

Our horses all raced well yesterday at Awapuni and Ellerslie without any luck but it was great to see Angelica Hall earn some very valuable black type running second in the Listed Fairdale/Goodwood Studs Flying Handicap at Awapuni.

Of course there is no racing again tonight in Singapore.  Racing has been abandoned this weekend as a mark of respect of the passing of Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew.  Mark tells us it will be a huge weekend of racing next weekend with 12 races on Friday night and 12 on Sunday - and yes, you can expect Te Akau Racing to be very well represented.

Last night we had Sam Boyd here to stay at the farm as well as our daughter Julia-Rose and her partner Hamish who arrived on Friday night.  We had a fun night watching the rugby.  Tonight the house will be full with some special friends coming to stay and we can't wait for the cricket to start as we will be cheering Brendon and the boys on - GO THE BLACK CAPS.
