Te Akau Taranaki Friday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Friday 14 February at New Plymouth.

Weather: fine, track: Soft6, rail: out 6.5 metres from winning post to 400m, remainder out 4 metres. No rain forecast.

4:00 p.m. R7 9 Hayate (6 m Maurice – Vamoose) – Craig Grylls; she remained back in a capacity field (18) when contesting the Rating 65 1800 metres on 25 January at Riccarton, and drops in grade for the $25,000 Rating 60 1800 metres. The winner of four races from 1200m – 2000m, she has shown to appreciate longer trips, and this is the ideal opportunity for her to show improvement. Fixed odds: $10.00 & $3.00.

4:39 p.m. R8 2 Baronet (5 g Contributer – Alpha Dame) – Rory Hutchings; he fought well for fourth after sharing the pace in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 27 January at Tauranga, and is one of two for the stable contesting the $25,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. He resumed with a good effort for third, prior, in the Rating 75 1200 metres at Tauranga, and has top four claims from the handy barrier (4). Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.00.

4:39 p.m. R8 8 Not Straight Laced (4 m Turn Me Loose – Clos De Tart) – Craig Grylls; she found the line solidly for third after receiving a trail in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 27 January at Tauranga, and also contests the $25,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. She ran home well for fourth the start before when resuming in the Rating 75 1200 metres at Tauranga, and she too cane deliver a top four finish from her handy gate (3). Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.20.
