Te Akau Taranaki Friday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Friday 27 March at New Plymouth.

Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: out 9 metres. No rain forecast.

3.21 p.m. R6 4 High Achiever  (4 g Pins - Thee Achiever) - Sam Weatherley; clocked very good sectionals during two wins and two fourths from five starts. He rounded off solidly for fifth when trialling on 16 March at Rotorua, and resumes in the $11,000 Rating 74 1200 metres. Both wins were fresh-up over 1200 metres, which rates him a top three chance from barrier two.

3.21 p.m. R6 8 Ocean Belle  (4 m Ocean Park - Xanadu) - Danielle Johnson; did a good job winning two from four in her first campaign, and ran the fastest last 600m (34.8) finishing third to subsequent stakes placed Puysegur (Fastnet Rock) in the Rating 74 1200 metres on 3 March at Hastings. She was slowly away last time and rates a top three chance with a better beginning in the $11,000 Rating 74 1200 metres.

3.56 p.m. R7 14 Waipapa  (3 f Savabeel - Hinemoa) - Michael McNab; got back last after beginning awkwardly when debuting in the Maiden 1200 metres on 6 March at Awapuni, running home in comparable time (35.3) to the winner, Raffle (Per Incanto) - carrying the same colours. From dual stakes winning Elusive City mare Hinemoa, she has drawn out (10) but capable of improvement in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres.
