Te Akau Taranaki Friday Preview
28 October, 2022
Te Akau Racing has six horses entered on Friday 28 October at New Plymouth.
Weather: showery, track: Good4, rail: out 11 metres. 3mls rain forecast Thursday, 4mls Friday.
1:15 p.m. R1 1 Prismatic (4 g Savabeel - Kaleidoscope) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); he found the line for fifth in the Maiden 1600 metres on 8 October at Hawera, and steps up in the $14,000 Maiden 2000 metres. Deserving to break maidens, he produced a solid three-year-old campaign, is suited to better footing, and rates a top three chance if appreciative of extra distance.
1:50 p.m. R2 1 Trobriand (2 c Kermadec - Arboreal) - Lisa Allpress; he finished third and fourth, respectively, in two trials and debuts in the $14,000 2YO 1200 metres. He possesses a good quality pedigree and receives an ideal introduction to racing - the first of two Te Akau juveniles lining up in this compact field of four.
1:50 p.m. R2 5 She Turns Heads (2 f Headwater - Convene) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); she finished second and third, respectively, in two trials and also makes her debut in the $14,000 2YO 1200 metres. Drawn the outside barrier (5) in this small field, there is speed in her family, and she looks a promising filly with plenty of future upside.
3:36 p.m. R5 4 Ifyourample (4 m Iffraaj - More than Adequate) - Lisa Allpress; she followed a fresh-up third, finishing seventh to winning stable-mate and dual stakes' placed Romancing The Moon (El Roca) in Maiden 1400 metres on 8 October, both at Matamata. She receives the opportunity to improve with a decent trip from barrier eight in the $14,000 Maiden 1400 metres.
4:44 p.m. R7 4 La Flora Belle (5 m Iffraaj - Tsarina Belle) - Lisa Allpress; she was ridden to lead at a genuine pace before being collared in the Rating 75 1600 metres on 8 October at Matamata, and contests the $14,000 Rating 75 1600 metres. Both of her wins have come at a mile, she is drawn (2) for an economical trip and rates a top three prospect if appreciative of course at her first attempt - in a race with another stable duo lining up.
4:44 p.m. R7 6 She's A Showoff (4 m Showcasing - Que Sera) - Niranjan Parmar (a3); she produced a sustained gallop to win the Rating 65 1200 metres on 25 September at Tauranga, running the fastest last 600m (36.5) on the day, and made up plenty for fourth in the Rating 75 1400 metres on 16 October at Rotorua. With weight relief to 51kg, she is ideally drawn (3), and looks capable of a top three finish in the $14,000 Rating 75 1600 metres.
