Te Akau Taranaki Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the seven race programme on Thursday 24 March at New Plymouth.

As on race morning the conditions were: raining and Dead5, rail out 10.5 metres.

3.11 p.m. R3 6 Linchpin (3 g Pins - Laurinel Princess) - Matt Cameron; commenced his career with two sevenths at Wairoa, and comes into the Maiden 1600 metres off 25 days. He meets nothing too frightening in a field where Dynamite Lucy (Sir Percy) may have the strongest form, is expected to appreciate some give and he trialled well before racing.

5.32 p.m. R7 2 Skyscraper (4 g Manhattan Rain - Grand Performance) - Jonathan Riddell; stretched clear after being well rated in front by Lammas to win the Maiden 1600 metres on February 14 at Matamata, and produced a good effort off the front in the $20,000 Rating 65 1600 metres at Hastings. His win came on Good3 footing, but rates an each way chance in the Rating 65 1818 metres provided he appreciates the footing.

5.32 p.m. R7 14 Brer (7 g China Cat - La Fox) - Leah Hemi (a2); missed last season after winning two steeplechases at Riccarton, and coming to hand nicely for another jumping campaign.
