Te Akau Taranaki Preview
8 June, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the seven race programme on Thursday 9 June at New Plymouth.
As on Wednesday 8 June the conditions were: cloudy and Slow8, rail out 11.5 metres - 10mls forecast race day.
1.17 p.m. R3 2 Rocksun (3 g Fastnet Rock - Beyond the Sunset) - Matt Cameron; raced on pace and finished close up for the minors in the Rating 65 1400 metres at Hawera, having proved a class above his rivals when winning the Maiden 1400 metres by five and a quarter lengths on Slow7 at Otaki. He looks a good chance in this field for the Rating 65 1400 metres.
3.04 p.m. R6 5 Niamh Elizabeth (3 f Per Incanto - Trove) - Matt Cameron; recorded her third placing, in the Maiden 1200 metres at Otaki. Fitter for two starts this time in, the prospect of loose footing should suit her in the $12,000 NZB Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres. Her half-sister, stakes' winner Thrive (Colombia), had a good record on rain-affected going.
