Te Akau Taranaki Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has six horses racing on Thursday 1 December at New Plymouth.
As on Wednesday 30 November the conditions were: overcast and Dead5, rail true. 4.5mls rain forecast Wednesday.

1.22 p.m. R2 5 Fashionably (3 f Redoute's Choice - Scarlett Lady) - Matt Cameron; found the line strongly in each of her two trials this time in, having galloped out stylishly to win her first trial back in March, and ideally drawn in barrier five to debut in the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres. Beautifully bred, from the dual Group One winner Scarlett Lady (Savabeel), who won eight of her sixteen starts, she has the makings of a lovely autumn filly and the attributes to rise in class quickly.

1.57 p.m. R3 13 Lucy Wyldstyle (3 f Savabeel - Lego) - Matt Cameron; was given time after finishing fourth and second, respectively, when trialling in August at Te Teko, and makes her debut from barrier seven in the Maiden 1100 metres. Shaping as a filly to keep improving over more ground, her grand-dam Legs (Pins) was Joint Top Filly in the 2005-06 NZ 3YO Free Handicaps, recorded Group One wins in the New Zealand Oaks (2400m) and Kelt Capital Stakes (2040m), and in turn became the dam of Wolfwhistle (O'Reilly) and Scrutinize (Savabeel) who were both trained by Te Akau.

2.32 p.m. R4 13 Lady Jasmine (3 f Darci Brahma - Lady Classique) - Matt Cameron; should have derived benefit from her debut performance here on 18 November in the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres on Slow8, and steps out in the Maiden 1200 metres. With the addition of blinkers and a tongue tie, she has drawn out in barrier eleven and will be looking to find the line encouragingly on improved footing.

3.06 p.m. R5 7 Grazia (4 m Savabeel - Trocair) - Matt Cameron; resumed here with a game performance for second after racing outside the leader in the Maiden 1400 metres and steps up in distance to a mile. Some luck is required in finding a decent position from barrier fifteen, but she has the prowess to negate it and prove very competitive again.

3.42 p.m. R6 4 Paradise Rock (4 g Fastnet Rock - Apple Charlotte) - Matt Cameron; was scratched from the last meeting here, 18 November, conducted on Slow8 footing, and accepted for the corresponding Rating 65 1800 metres event. He dictated terms in front and proved far too good winning the Maiden 1560 metres on 4 November at Rotorua, and similar front running tactics could test his rivals again.

4.17 p.m. R7 14 Dame Margo Fonteyn (3 f High Chaparral - Dancing Forever) - Matt Cameron; has been freshened since making her debut on 14 September in the Maiden 1400 metres at Te Rapa, and resumes off 78 days, from barrier eight, in the Maiden 1400 metres. Bred to go over more ground, being from a mare that impressed winning over 2000 metres, she won a trial very well on yielding ground in August at Te Teko, and should race boldly fresh up.
