Te Akau Taranaki Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses entered for the seven race twilight programme on Friday 20 November at New Plymouth.

As on Thursday 19 November the conditions were: cloudy and Good3, rail true.

4.55 p.m. R2 11 Spritz (3 f Thorn Park - Spray) - Matt Cameron; was squeezed out at the start but made ground late on debut in a good form race over 1200 metres at Te Aroha. From barrier one in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres she should occupy a good position and from there finish strongly.

5.30 p.m. R3 1 Hushed (5 g Don Eduardo - Danewhisper) - Matt Cameron; forged his way into third after being tightened against the rail here over a mile last time, and steps up in distance for the Maiden 1800 metres. A lot will depend on how he situates from a wide draw but his work suggests continued improvement.

6.01 p.m. R4 2 Bordeaux (4 g High Chaparral - Our Echezeaux) - Michael McNab; led them up and found a good kick to win over a mile when resuming at Hastings, and has trained well since. Up in both grade and distance to contest the Rating 65 1800 metres, he requires luck from a wide barrier but has gained the confidence to go well again.

7.01 p.m. R6 7 Our Drahma Queen (4 m Darci Brahma - Queen Cha Cha) - Matt Cameron; was tightened when running on in the Maiden 1400 metres on Oct. 26 at Woodville. She finished third in 1:09.4 in her previous start at Taupo, and with blinkers on she appears a decent chance from barrier six in the Maiden 1400 metres.

7.36 p.m. R7 7 Maestro (5 g Encosta De Lago - Miss Scarlatti) - Darryl Bradley; trialled very well in preparation to resume in the Rating 65 1400 metres. A winner over the trip, who acts fresh, he has the ability to produce a bold performance before stepping over more ground.
