Te Akau Taranaki Saturday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Saturday 1 February at New Plymouth.

Weather: fine, track: Dead6, rail: out 4 metres. No rain forecast.

1.35 p.m. R3 6 Pokuru's Gift (4 g Rock ‘n' Pop - Pokuru Boxer) - Opie Bosson; blitzed
his rivals in the Rating 65 1100 metres on 1 January at Hastings, before being
posted wide and finishing fifth in a strong field for the Rating 72 1100 metres
on 15 January at Rotorua. Winning two of his last four, he rates a top three
chance from barrier three in the $25,000 Rating 72 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $4.80
& $1.60.

2.10 p.m. R4 4 Perfect Scenario (2 c Iffraaj - Rosetti
Bay) - Opie Bosson; has been given time (42 days) since a strong late effort
for third on debut in the 2YO 1100 metres on 21 December at Awapuni, and
contests the $70,000 Woburn Farm 2YO Classic (Gr. 3, 1200m). Perfectly drawn
(1), he rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $3.10 & $1.30.

3.55 p.m. R7 1 Prise De Fer (4 g Savabeel - Foiled) -
Opie Bosson; made it four wins in a row with a comprehensive two-length victory
in the Rich Hill Mile (Gr. 2, 1600m) on 1 January at Ellerslie, and contests
the $80,000 Powerworx Taranaki Cup (Gr. 3, 1800m). Although drawn wide (11) and
carrying top weight (57kgs), he must still rate highly. Fixed odds: $2.80 &
$1.40.

3.55 p.m. R7 12 Scott Base (5 g Dalghar - Extra
Celestial) - Michael McNab; came from a long way back when finishing third in
the Anniversary Handicap (Gr. 3, 1600m) on 11 January at Trentham, where he had
won the Wellington Guineas (Gr. 2, 1400m). Unfortunately drawn wide again (12),
he is a talented individual at best and capable of threatening with luck in
running. Fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.70.
