Te Akau Taranaki Thursday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Thursday 19 March at New Plymouth.

Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: out 8 metres. 2mls rain forecast Thursday morning.

12.16 p.m. R1 2 Beau Geste  (5 g Pour Moi - Villa Wanda) - Michael Roustoby (a3); was unable to take up a handy position from a wide gate in the Rating 65 2100 metres on 28 February at Awapuni, but found the line. A year ago, he led throughout when winning the Maiden High-weight 2000 metres on 21 March at New Plymouth, and has the addition of visor blinkers in the $10,000 Rating 65 High-weight 1800 metres.

1.26 p.m. R4 8 Uber Roca  (3 f El Roca - Uberfrau) - Rosie Myers; led at a strong clip and kept going strongly to photo-finish for second when trialling on 25 February at Avondale, won by subsequent fresh-up winning stable-mate Get Hitched (Lonhro). Debuting in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres, she has the gate speed to position handily from barrier four and should go well.

3.48 p.m. R7 3 Laureate  (3 g Snitzel - Floria) - Samantha Collett; produced a notable effort for third in the Maiden 1500 metres on 23 February at Wairoa, after finishing third there three days beforehand to subsequent winning stable-mate Vicenza (Sacred Falls), ridden in each by Collett. He has the addition of visor blinkers in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres and receives a chance to improve further.
