Te Akau Tauherenikau Preview

Te Akau has two horses scheduled to run at Tauherenikau, in their eight race programme this Saturday 26 March.

As at race morning the conditions are Dead4, rail in the true position, overcast with some rain forecast.

12.29 p.m. R1 8 Lady Pinot (3f Starspangledbanner - Madame Echezeaux) - Leah Hemi (a2); this consistent filly resumes from a spell. With a career tally of two seconds, a third and a fifth, she raced well in a fresh state last preparation running second at Taupo over 1000 metres on debut.  She went down a nose with some top quality stakes' winning fillies behind her, such as Risque and Alarmer. A filly with a lot of heart, we think she should go very close fresh up this preparation as a more mature filly.

2.55 p.m. R5 5 Echezeaux (4m Encosta De Lago - Grand Echezeaux) - Hayden Tinsley; a last start winner over 1600 metres, who looks like she will relish the step up to 2050 metres. She sustained on her winning run, where she took off at the 600, and kept kicking up the straight to hold on for an impressive win, so the extra ground here looks ideal for her. A royally bred mare, she keeps improving with more time and mileage under her belt.
