Te Akau Racing has five horses entered on Wednesday 8 September at Taupo.

Weather: overcast, track: Dead4, rail: true. 14mls rain forecast Tuesday, 8mls Wednesday.

2.50 p.m. R5 12 Duby (5 m Ocean Park - Lost in Dubai) - Joe Kamaruddin (a2); capped good form with convincing victory in the Maiden 1300 metres on 30 June at Cambridge (poly-track). Freshened since missing there in July, she has weight relief to 55kg but requires luck barrier 11 in the $12,000 Rating 65 1200 metres.

3.29 p.m. R6 1 Cornflower Blue (4 m Savabeel - Tiffany Yellow) - Joe Kamaruddin (a2); had a terrific season at three, winning the Barnswood Farm Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m), finishing third to stable-mate Kahma Lass (Darci Brahma) in the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), and third in the Wellington Guineas (Gr. 2, 1400m). Trialled twice, she has the class to rate a top three chance in the $12,000 Rating 74 1200 metres despite carrying 60.5kg.

3.29 p.m. R6 9 Challa (5 g Dissident - Are There Any) - Niranjan Parmar (a4); travelled easily in front and never pressed when winning at the trials on 10 August at Cambridge (poly-track). Stakes placed, three time winner to 1200 metres, he has weight relief to 58kg, acts fresh, and offers plenty to chase with a good beginning in the $12,000 Rating 74 1200 metres.

3.29 p.m. R6 11 Miss Mayfield (5 m Deep Field - Lorna May) - Danielle Johnson; registered two wins and two seconds to 1200 metres from six starts in Australia, and following two trials she resumes in the $12,000 Rating 74 1200 metres. Both wins on good ground and would prefer footing to remain reasonable.

4.04 p.m. R7 1 Arceus (3 g Per Incanto - Centree) - Jonathan Riddell; kept up a good gallop to win, after gapping his rivals off the front, when trialling on 16 August at Cambridge (poly-track), and debuts in the $12,000 Maiden 3YO 1100 metres. With gate speed to go forward, he uses himself well and should race accordingly.
