Te Akau Taupo Preview
15 September, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the seven race programme on Friday 16 September at Taupo.
As on Thursday 15 September the conditions were: overcast and Dead5, rail true. Two mls rain forecast Thursday and 2mls race day.
1.27 p.m. R3 9 Tiffany's Time (3 f Alamosa - Tinsel Time) - Matt Cameron; makes her debut from barrier five in the Maiden 1200 metres. She finished second when trialling on 2 August at Te Teko, and won well, beating stable-mate Discretely Red (Redwood), over 1030 metres at the same venue on 25 August. She meets a few with good race day and trial form: namely Mossomak, Poker Face, Leonardo and Lady Bullbars but her consistency through the trials stage should hold her in good stead.
2.02 p.m. R4 13 Our Abbadean (4 m Lookin at Lucky - Highland Lights) - Matt Cameron; resumed with a notable performance for fourth in the $22,500 Rating 75 1200 metres on 27 August at Ruakaka, and has visor blinkers on, from barrier eight, stepping to 1300 metres. Following back-to-back victories, she ended her previous campaign with a strong finish for second, clocking a slick 34.1 final 600m, in a smart field for the $20,000 3YO 1600 metres at Te Rapa, which indicates her ability to prove competitive in this field.
2.37 p.m. R5 1 Hall of Fame (3 c Savabeel - Around the Clock) - Sam Weatherley (a3); presented in terrific order when resuming in the $20,000 3YO 1200 metres on 27 August at Hastings, producing a slashing performance for second to the highly regarded, unbeaten Ugo Foscolo. He raced away by four and a half lengths over 1200 metres in May at Pukekohe, is clearly highest rated and will be a short order to deliver with the aid of an apprentice claim in the Rating 65 1300 metres.
