Te Akau Taupo Thursday Preview
5 November, 2026
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Thursday 5 November at Taupo.
Taupo:
Weather: cloudy, track: Soft6, rail: true. Showers forecast Thursday afternoon.
3:46 p.m. R2 2 Woman In Charge (4 m Farnan – Rosetta) – Michael McNab; she secured a lovely position in fourth, travelled well turning for home and remained nicely held together while maintaining her spot when trialling on 22 October at Waipa. Resuming in the $18,500 Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres (eligible $26,000 bonuses), she’s a talented mare who has placed in three of four starts, has shown she can race well when fresh, and rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $3.90 & $1.75.
3:46 p.m. R2 4 Lady Margaery (4 m Savabeel – Sexy Thing) – Opie Bosson; she received an unfortunate check when finishing solidly in the home straight after getting back on the inner when debuting in a Maiden 1200 metres on 14 October at Tauranga, and also contests the Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres. By 10-time Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel), her grand-dam Eureka Jewel (Semipalatinsk) was a multiple Group winner to 2000m. While she appears destined for further distance, she is more than capable of a bold showing if Opie can secure a decent trip from barrier eight. Fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.80.
4:21 p.m. R3 2 Mark Him Down (3 g St Mark’s Basilica – Joy Forever) – Opie Bosson; he began well to race on the speed, went clear entering the home straight, and kept going solidly to finish third in a trial on 6 October at Matamata, likewise with Opie aboard. Debuting in the $18,500 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres, he is a horse that has shown good potential through the trials' stage, and he shapes to race well with a good dose of luck from his wide draw (10). Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.80.
