Te Akau Tauranga Friday Preview

Te Akau Racing has six horses entered on Friday 15 December at Tauranga.

Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

4:09 p.m. R5 9 Glitzy Glory (3 f Embellish – Colheita) – Opie Bosson; she sustained a strong finish for second in a trial on 13 November at Waipa, and resumes in the $25,000 Maiden 1200 metres after performing well for fourth in her only start as two-year-old. Professional, with blinkers on, she is ideally drawn (3) to rate a top four chance.

4:44 p.m. R6 6 Malmaison (3 g Darci Brahma – Altai Rose) – Niranjan Parmar (a1); he worked between horses near the rail and finished well for third in a trial on 5 December at Waipa, and debuts in the $25,000 Maiden 1200 metres. An athletic individual, he is nicely drawn (2) to race well first-up - one of two in the event for the stable.

4:44 p.m. R6 13 Never Forgotten (3 f Fastnet Rock – Memories of You) – Opie Bosson; she was unable to quicken when finishing sixth fresh-up in the Maiden 1100 metres on 14 November at Ruakaka, has been given time (31 days) since, and also contests the $25,000 Maiden 1200 metres. She closed strongly to grab a win when trialling on 31 October at Te Rapa, has a classy pedigree, bred to keep improving over more distance, and is presented with the opportunity to show improvement.

6:32 p.m. R9 6 Hayate (5 m Maurice – Vamoose) – Opie Bosson; she received a good trip when running the fastest last 600m (35.4) for a close third in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 21 November at Rotorua, and contests the $25,000 Maiden 1600 metres. A course winner last December at her only attempt, she is in good form and presents as a top three chance with luck from the wide draw (11).

7:12 p.m. R10 4 Devoted (6 g Contributer – Mapmaker) – Jess Allen (a3); he was okay from back in the field when resuming in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 21 November at Rotorua, with Allen aboard, and contests the $25,000 Rating 65 1600 metres. Twice a winner to 2100 metres, he enjoys weight relief to 55.5kg, and is preparing to step again in distance - the first of a stable duo competing in this event.

7:12 p.m. R10 8 Firriato (4 m Almanzor – Deliciano) – Opie Bosson; she won both preparatory trials before resuming with a win after a top ride in Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1400 metres (eligible $20,000 bonus) on 26 October at Rotorua. She was without favours late when having to settle for fourth in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 24 November at New Plymouth, and is capable of figuring in the finish if she can secure a decent trip from barrier nine in the $25,000 Rating 65 1600 metres - she certainly has the man in the saddle to achieve that.
