Te Akau Tauranga Friday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Friday 17 January at Tauranga.

Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12.37 p.m. R1 5 Swing Note (5 m Encosta De Lago -
Andallthatjazz) - Michael McNab; fought on after being back and wide in the
Rating 82 2200 metres on Boxing Day at Ellerslie. Winner of the Spring Classic
(Listed, 2000m) last season at Riccarton, she meets a small but competitive
field in the $30,000 Rating 82 2200 metres and up to them at best.

1.47 p.m. R3 1 Cool Aza Beel (2 c Savabeel - Cool ‘N'
Sassy) - Opie Bosson; won the first two-year-old race of the season, over 800
metres on 7 September at Wanganui, and freshened after an unlucky fourth in the
Fasttrack Insurance 5K Bonus 2YO Stakes (Listed, 1100m) on 23 November at
Pukekohe. A smart young colt by the Champion Sire, he should go well from
barrier five in the $22,500 2YO 1200 metres.

2.22 p.m. R4 9 Puysegur (3 f Fastnet Rock - Pins ‘N' Needles) - Craig Grylls; held
sway winning a trial on 13 November at Avondale, and finished fourth when
resuming here a month later in the Rating 65 1200 metres. A debut winner at
two, she is a three-quarter sister to Champion Two-Year-Old and
stable-mate Avantage (Fastnet Rock), with inherent family ability, and has
blinkers on from barrier four in the $22,500 Rating 65 1200 metres.

4.53 p.m. R8 4 Ginger Too (3 g Iffraaj - La Chiflota)
- Opie Bosson; hit the line strongly when winning the Maiden 1400 metres on 12
November at Te Aroha, and followed with a notable third in the Rating 65 1400
metres on 27 December at New Plymouth. He produced a solid debut fourth here in
October and rates an each way chance from barrier three in the $22,500 Rating
65 1600 metres.
