Te Akau Tauranga Friday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Friday 11 December at Tauranga.

Weather: showery, track: Dead5, rail: out 2.5 metres from 1000m to 400m, remainder true. No rain forecast.

3.10 p.m. R3 12 Garbo (3 f Proisir - La Pucelle) - Joe Kamaruddin; came from last to photo-finish for third when trialling on 24 November at Cambridge, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. Her dam, La Pucelle (Tale of the Cat), won over 1200 metres from off the pace, which could be an emanating pattern for this filly too. She has weight relief to 51kgs and assured an economical trip from barrier one.  

5.54 p.m. R8 11 Combat Queen (4 m Pierro - Missy Cummings) - Danielle Johnson; ran home in a similar closing 600m (35.0) to winning stable-mate Top Brass (Epaulette) when resuming in the Rating 74 1200 metres on 25 November at Te Rapa, and steps up in the $11,000 Rating 74 1400 metres. She strikes quite a strong field and requires luck from an awkward gate (9).
