Te Akau Tauranga & Warwick Farm Midweek Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has 15 horses racing on Wednesday 14 October at Tauranga and Warwick Farm, Sydney.

Weather: showery, track: Dead5, rail: out 6 metres. 6mls rain forecast Tuesday.

Tauranga:

Weather: fine, track: Slow8, rail: out 6 metres.

11.40 a.m. R1 2 Perfect Scenario (3 g Iffraaj - Rosetti Bay) - Opie Bosson; pierced through in the straight with a strong finish for second when trialling on 8 September at Ellerslie, and resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. He has good form around him at the races and trials, is from a very good mare that acted fresh, and he rates a top three chance.

12.44 p.m. R3 6 Duby (4 m Ocean Park - Lost in Dubai) - Danielle Johnson; chased valiantly for second to impressive winning stable-mate Cornflower Blue (Savabeel) in the Maiden 1200 metres on 9 September at Matamata, and tracked up wide with a strong finish for second here in the Maiden 1300 metres on 30 September. She rates a top three chance from the good barrier draw (4) in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres.

1.19 p.m. R4 10 Secret Amour (4 m Niagara - My Secret)
- Chelsea Burdan (a2); cleared traffic with a strong finish for fourth to
stable-mate Entriviere (Tavistock) on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 23
September at Matamata, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. A wide
draw (13) makes it tricky, but she rates a top three chance with luck.

1.19 p.m. R4 17 Maasir (3 g Proisir - Maakel) -
Danielle Johnson; was caught wide and kept up a good gallop behind stable-mate
Entriviere (Tavistock) on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 23 September at
Matamata. He had trialled well prior and rates a top four chance in the $10,000
Maiden 1400 metres.

1.54 p.m. R5 3 Ginger Too (4 g Iffraaj - La Chiflota)
- Opie Bosson; won second-up over 1400 metres in his first campaign and
following two trials he resumes in the $10,000 Rating 65 1300 metres. Ideally
drawn (1), he rates a top four chance with improvement to come.

1.54 p.m. R5 9 Entriviere (4 m Tavistock - Marcey's
Belt) - Danielle Johnson; was good through the trials stage and presented at a
timely moment in the straight to win on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 23
September at Matamata. Stepping up in the $10,000 Rating 65 1300 metres, she
rates an each way chance from barrier two.

2.29 p.m. R6 13 Kathies Choice (4 m Redoute's Choice -
Everswindell) - Chelsea Burdan (a2); finished strongly for a close second when
trialling on 15 September at Te Rapa, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 1200
metres. Emulation of her latest trial could see a solid performance with luck
from a wide draw (12).

2.29 p.m. R6 14 Vitani (3 f Pins - Queen of Lions) -
Danielle Johnson; scored impressively when trialling in July at Te Rapa, fought
solidly in September at Rotorua, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. Well
bred, from a family that can handle give in the ground, she has gate speed to
position handily and should go well first-up.

2.29 p.m. R6 17 Melodious (3 f Darci Brahma -
Quintette) - Ashvin Goindasamy (a2); suffered an atrial fibrillation on debut
in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 24 September at Woodville, while downgraded
footing to Heavy10 was against as well. Safely through, she receives an
opportunity to get her campaign on track from barrier two in the $10,000 Maiden
1200 metres.

3.04 p.m. R7 3 Fabulous Flight (6 g I Am Invincible -
Court Flying) - Chelsea Burdan (a2); has trialled twice in preparation to
resume in the $11,000 Rating 74 1200 metres. A winner four times to 1600
metres, he has operated fresh, shown to handle some give in the ground, and
should be finding the line with weight relief to 56.5kgs.

3.04 p.m. R7 18 Vicenza (4 m Sacred Falls - Tonic) -
Joe Kamaruddin (a4); worked through the line from a rearward position in the
Rating 74 1200 metres last Saturday at Matamata, and contests the corresponding
event. She recorded back-to-back wins to 1600 metres before spelling in March
and should be finding the line.

3.39 p.m. R8 2 Mai Tai (4 m Atlante - Tropical Punch) - Opie Bosson; looked good finishing
fourth on debut over 1200 metres in March at Matamata, and resumed with a big
effort for second in the Pearl Series 1200 metres on 17 September at Te Rapa.
With luck from a wide gate (12), she rates a top three chance in the $10,000
NZB Insurance Pearl Series 1200 metres (eligible $11,500 bonus).

3.39 p.m. R8 19 Feelin' Fancy (4 m Rip Van Winkle -
Frivolous) - Troy Harris; makes her debut in the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl
Series 1200 metres, following three trials. From the family of stable-mate
Supreme Khan (Mongolian Khan), who won on debut last Friday at Timaru, she is
ideally drawn (3) and should race solidly provided the footing remains
reasonable.

5.24 p.m. R11 6 When In Paris (4 m Pierro - Bulle De Champagne) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); received a lovely trip with this jockey aboard when finishing third on debut in the Maiden 1400 metres on 23 September at Matamata, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 1600 metres. She receives weight relief to 52.5kgs and rates a top four chance from barrier four.

Warwick Farm:

Weather: overcast, track: Good4, rail: true.

6.15 p.m. (NZ time) R5 1 Avadane (4 m Savabeel - J'Adane) -
Kerrin McEvoy; fought hard for sixth when resuming in the Benchmark 72 1100
metres here on 16 September and stoic when claimed on the line after leading in
the Benchmark 72 1200 metres a fortnight ago on the Kensington track at
Randwick. Despite increasing weight (61.5kgs), she rates a top four chance from
barrier four in the $50,000 Benchmark 72 Fillies & Mares 1200 metres.
