Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Wednesday 1 October at Tauranga.

3:32 p.m. R6 7 Vickezzlastcall (4 m Wrote – Vickezzchardonnay) – Craig Grylls; she got back last from an outside gate, nine lengths 600m, quickened near the rail in the straight and ran on nicely through the line in a trial on 23 September at Te Rapa. Contesting the $18,500 Rating 65 2100 metres, she recorded a second start victory in the Maiden 2YO & 3YO 1400 metres here in July, and is capable of showing improvement on her subsequent two starts. Fixed odds: $4.50 & $1.80.

4:07 p.m. R7 1 Top Shelf (4 m Savabeel – Saoirse) – Craig Grylls; she travelled sixth on the outer on a genuine pace, settling seven lengths off the leaders at the 600m. She secured a nice gap into the straight, and while she was a touch awkward around the 200m mark, she was given an easy time in a trial on 23 September at Te Rapa. Contesting the $18,500 Rating 65 1400 metres, she was a stylish course/distance winner before spelling after finishing second in the Group 2 David & Karyn Ellis Fillies Classic (2000m) in February at Te Rapa. She always indicated she possessed the ability to reach higher grades last season, and today she finds the opportunity to commence her new campaign in good fashion. Fixed odds: $3.20 & $1.45.
