Te Akau Tauranga Preview
24 March, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Saturday 25 March at Tauranga.
As on Friday 24 March the conditions were: showery and Dead6, rail true. No rain forecast.
4.06 p.m. R7 5 Vinevale (4 m Flying Spur - Eden Valley) - Opie Bosson; ended her previous campaign in solid form and freshened since she resumes off 49 days in the $22,500 Rating 75 1200 metres, with blinkers on. A talented mare, she has impressed winning over this distance first-up on a couple of occasions and rates a top four chance with luck from a wide draw.
5.21 p.m. R9 7 Amperage (4 g Zabeel - Miss Zapper) - Opie Bosson; hardened his fitness during three days of the recent East Coast circuit, finishing fourth and fifth respectively at his last two starts and contests the $20,000 Rating 65 2100 metres. He won his Maiden over this trip when setting terms in front, is likely to adopt similar tactics from barrier four and could take catching if able to dictate.
6.01 p.m. R10 8 Gardenier (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Miss Montjeu) - Opie Bosson; won the Maiden 1400 metres easily on 9 February at Te Aroha, and fought solidly for third despite the conditions (Heavy10) blunting her ability to quicken in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 8 March at Avondale. She is a much improved filly with maturity on her side and a top four finish in the $20,000 Rating 65 1600 metres would indicate continued progress.
