Te Akau Tauranga Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses engaged at the Tauranga meeting on Saturday 22 March.  As at Friday the weather conditions were fine, track a Good3 the rail true.

2:02 pm race 3 Equanimity ( 3f More Than Ready - Insouciant) - Michael Coleman 56.5kg; unbeaten in two race day appearances over 1230m and 1400m she looks well placed in this 3 year old event over 1300m under set weights and penalties conditions. Freshened since her last start win at Ellerslie on Karaka Million night and with the aid of a recent trial, she will strip fit but fresh against her own age group. Able to settle in transit and sprint at the business end of a race, the wide barrier should not be of concern in this smaller field.

5:06 pm race 8 Urban Angel (5m Savabeel - Tutuland) - Michael Dee 54kg; fresh up from a spell after a consistent, if unlucky, spring campaign. The form is strong around her, with placings behind Group 2 winner Chintz and Group 1 performer Sacred Star. The 1300m may prove a bit too sharp on a good surface, but she has the natural ability to give cheek with some luck in the running.
