Te Akau Tauranga Preview
14 December, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Friday 15 December at Tauranga - twilight meeting.
As on Thursday 14 December the conditions were: fine and Dead6, rail out 5.5 metres. No rain forecast.
4.36 p.m. R4 9 Dazed and Confused (4 m Showcasing - Real Success) - Opie Bosson; found the line from well back when fifth on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 10 November at Avondale. There is no shortage of quality in the family and natural improvement is expected from her fresh-up run, but she will require luck from a wide draw in the $10,000 Maiden Fillies & Mares 1400 metres.
5.13 p.m. R5 12 Master Painton (3 g Reliable Man - Abbey Tralae) - Opie Bosson; was a touch disappointing on debut, given an economical trip in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 26 November at Te Rapa. He had trialled well prior, including an athletic display to win on heavy ground in September at Avondale, and stepping in distance could aid his prospects in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres.
6.25 p.m. R7 7 Tavis Star (6 m Tavistock - Megapins) - Tegan Newman (a4); ran home solidly in a recent trial at Matamata, and resumes off 118 days in the $11,000 Rating 70 1400 metres. Ideally drawn in barrier three and claiming weight to 52kgs provides its advantages and having recorded seven seconds and four thirds, in addition to two wins, she is always a chance.
6.58 p.m. R8 14 Valotia (3 f Cape Blanco - Singalong) - Michael McNab; remained rearward on debut in the Maiden 1400 metres on 29 November at Rotorua, and with visor blinkers on she steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1600 metres. Able to get handier from barrier five, she certainly has the pedigree to produce an improved showing.
7.28 p.m. R9 10 Unfazed (4 m Zabeel - Fazed) - Opie Bosson; ran the fastest last 600m (35.1) when sustaining a big run for second in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 30 November at Avondale. Ideally drawn (4) in the $10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres, she was a clear-cut Maiden winner by nearly four lengths during her first campaign and appears a genuine threat in this field.
