Te Akau Tauranga Preview
5 October, 2018
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Friday 5 October at Tauranga.
As on Thursday 4 October the conditions were: cloudy and Good3, rail out 6.5 metres. No rain forecast.
1.27 p.m. R3 6 Icebomb (4 m Darci Brahma - Snowdonia) - Matt Cameron; circled from second last and sustained a strong finish for second when resuming in the Rating 65 1230 metres on 16 September at Rotorua. A talented filly, she was a stylish course winner over 1300 metres in April and drawn barrier six in the $22,500 Rating 65 1200 metres. Very consistent (9: 1 - 6 - 1 - 1) and capable of competing admirably in a higher grade, she receives a good opportunity to threaten this field.
3.47 p.m. R7 15 Qian Gua (4 g Cape Blanco - Cool Diamonds) - rider to be advised; settled last off a wide draw and race tempo never suited back runners on 15 September at Ruakaka, when he resumed in the $25,000 Rating 72 1600 metres. He had recorded consecutive wins over 1600 metres and spelled in May after a second over 2000 metres. Handily drawn (2) in the corresponding event, he can utilize the gate and prove more competitive.
