Te Akau: Te Akau Monday Update

David Ellis updates on the past weekend and the start of a busy week - again!

David writes:

FANTASTIC - 26mls of rain at Te Akau Stud and more due tonight!  No its not enough but it's a start.  We are in a fortunate position where we still have plenty of grass but with this rain it will certainly wash all the fertiliser in and it is starting to green up already.

I had a great weekend in Wellington.  On Friday we had 12 to lunch at Martin Bosley's restaurant which was a lot of fun and I always really enjoy racing at Trentham.  We were proud to also be the sponsor of the teakaustud.co.nz Cuddle Stakes at Group 3 level.

What a lovely filly the Oaks' winner was and Tony Pike is really having a great season as a trainer.  His horses always look healthy and fit.  The track at Trentham is a true test of a stayer and gives most horses a good chance.

We are still getting new owners coming to us wanting to get involved in our great industry and the next new owner will be our 80th this season.  Nothing gives me a greater thrill than seeing new owners join the team.

Tonight we have roast beef going on the weber for one of our very good friends who is coming to stay the night.
