NZ Avondale Preview

A Te Akau trio heads to the Avondale races on Monday.

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the seven-race programme on Monday April 15 at Avondale.

As at 10:15am on Sunday April 14 the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail out 8 metres.

3:30pm R5 9 Orinto (3 f Iffraaj - The Perfurme Garden) - Matt Cameron; steadied to last off a wide gate, she mounted a sweeping run near the home turn and kept giving generously for second on March 25 over a mile on Dead4 footing at Matamata. The winner, promising staying type Le'vantos, franked the form when finishing second on Saturday at Ellerslie. Again in a small field over 1600 metres, for fillies and mares, she brings form of a fourth and second from only two starts to prove competitive.

4:03pm R6 1 Riedel (3 g Saperavi - La Conga) - Matt Cameron; showed ability winning on debut over 1400 metres before finishing second in a first campaign comprising three starts, and resumes in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres with a trial run under his belt. Drawn perfectly in barrier one, he has the game to capitalize on an economical trip in what is a solid field.

4:38pm R7 11 Darci's Gold (4 m Darci's Gold - Golden Dawn) - Matt Cameron; trialled up nicely to finish camped on Neo and Twilight Granita at Cambridge, March 12, and resumes in the Benchmark 75 1200 metres. Unbeaten fresh-up, she has the talent to match her rivals but does require luck in running from barrier eight.
