NZ Rotorua Preview

A Te Akau trio makes its way to Rotorua on Wednesday.

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight-race programme on Wednesday April 17 at Rotorua.

As at 12:55pm on Tuesday April 16 the conditions were: raining and Slow8, rail out 5.5 metres - 17mls rain overnight.

12:40pm R1 4 Sunset Pass (4 g Yamanin Vital - Janet's Chance) - Shaun Phelan; resumes from a spell in the Maiden High-weight 1950 metres. Encouraging in three starts to date, he is a horse improving with maturity and his form stacks up to be competitive providing he cops the footing.

3:00pm R5 5 No Nonsense (3 g O'Reilly - Censibelle) - Matt Cameron; resumed from a 68-day break with a notable performance for seventh on March 27 in the Benchmark 65 1600 metres at Te Rapa. Trainer Jason Bridgman is wary of the horse acting on worse footing than the track currently stands and therefore will reserve a decision on starting until closer to the time. Taking his place in the Benchmark 65 1950 metres, he brings the right form to measure up from barrier four.

4:45pm R8 10 Milan Miss (3 f Darci Brahma - Falaniella) - Matt Cameron; has fitness on her side following two races since a spell and boasts trial form to indicate wet footing should prove beneficial. Earlier in the season, she finished third and first, respectively, on heavy ground when trialling at Paeroa. Drawn barrier ten, which could prove an assist in the last race of the day - Maiden 1400 metres - her recent efforts suggest a bold performance providing she handles the loose ground under race conditions.
