Te Akau Te Aroha Friday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on 3 January at Te Aroha.

Weather: overcast, track: Dead5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12.52 p.m. R2 5 High Achiever (3 g Pins - Thee Achiever) - Michael McNab; has been patiently handled through the trials stage, including a fourth here on 16 December, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. From a great South Island family of the Dennis brothers, including 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner The Jewel (O'Reilly), his dam won three times to 2100m, and while destined to increase in trip he appears capable of a bold first-up effort from barrier three.

2.02 p.m. R4 9 Enduring Love  (4 m Camelot - Holy Moly) - Michael McNab; finished fifth off a wide trip in the Maiden 1200 metres on 8 December at Waipukurau, following second in a good form race at New Plymouth. Ideally drawn (4) in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres, she is a consistent performer and rates a top four chance.

3.12 p.m. R6 1 Red Jakkal (4 g Jakkalberry - Red Alert) - Michael McNab; had a quiet trial here on 16 December and resumes in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. He won fresh-up over 1215 metres in March at Rotorua, running the fastest last 600m (33.8) on the day, has blinkers on, and the ability to race well from barrier one.

4.26 p.m. R8 1 Full of Grace  (5 g O'Reilly - Tuesday's Child) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); found the line from last when resuming in the Rating 72 1200 metres on 18 December at Matamata, won by stable-mate Romantic Lady (Power). Back in class and up in distance for the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres, he claims to 56kgs, has blinkers on, and capable of improving with the right trip from barrier nine.
