1.04 p.m. R2 18 Ocean Star (4 g Ocean Park - Star of
Gibraltar) - Opie
Bosson; given time (28 days) since resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres on
2 October at Ruakaka, and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres with
blinkers on. He has trialled well and capable of an improved showing from
barrier four. Fixed odds: $11.00 & $3.10.
2.49 p.m. R5 9 Accalia (3 f Savabeel - Banchee) - Sam
Weatherley; has shown good ability at the trials, beating subsequent debut
winner Chiaretta (Makfi) at two, and debuts in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1200
metres. Out of Champion Two-Year-Old Banchee (Oratorio), and a three-quarter
sister to Champion Three-Year-Old Katie Lee (Pins), she has determined
attributes and should go well from barrier six. Fixed odds: $6.50 & $2.25.
4.04 p.m. R7 8 Double Expresso (3 f Shamexpress -
Double Parked) - Donavan Mansour; ran well for sixth on debut to stable-mate
Burgundy Rose (Burgundy) in the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres on 9 October at Taupo, with Mansour
aboard, and contests the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series 1200 metres. Her
dam, Double Parked (Thorn Park), impressed winning over 1200 metres. She also
has Chiaretta (mentioned above) trial form and shapes to improve further with
the right trip from barrier eight. Fixed odds: $9.50 & $2.80.
4.04 p.m. R7 11 Qiji Olympia (3 f Atlante - Taheya) - Matt
Cameron; trialled solidly for third in September at Cambridge, and debuts in
the $10,000 NZB
Insurance Pearl Series 1200 metres. She should be able to utilize barrier
one and from there produce a bold effort. Fixed odds: $11.00 & $3.20.
4.39 p.m. R8 3 Military Step (4 g Tavistock - Marching
On) - Opie Bosson; followed consecutive thirds with an easy win over 1600
metres in April at Wanganui, and received a chequered passage when resuming on
4 October in the Rating 65 1400 metres. With a senior rider aboard, he can show
sharp improvement from barrier two in the $10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres. Fixed
odds: $8.00 & $2.80.
4.39 p.m. R8 12 Shebringsmerubies (4 m Sebring - Run
Away Ruby) - Matt Cameron; prevailed with impeccable timing in a close finish
to the Maiden 1400 metres on 18 September at Matamata, and up in grade for the
$10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres. Although drawn wide (11), she is a consistent
performer that can measure up with the right trip. Fixed odds: $4.60 &
$1.90.
