2:19 p.m. R3 2 The Victress (2 f Zousain – Liesele) – Opie Bosson; she began smartly to lead and looked good in her action winning her sole trial on 1 August at Te Rapa, and debuts in the $18,500 Maiden 2YO 1000 metres. Only the third runner for Zoustar (Northern Meteor) son Zousain, her dam Liesele won nine races from 1000m – 1200m, including the Alinghi Stakes (Listed, 1100m) as a three-year-old at Caulfield, and has produced three individual winners of 12 races. 4:04 p.m. R6 3 Caravella (4 m Caravaggio – Highland Lights) – Opie Bosson; she won comfortably when resuming in the Rating 60 1200 metres on 9 November at Taupo, and closed strongly for third in the Rating 65 1230 metres on 10 December at Rotorua. She rates a top three chance in the $25,000 Rating 65 1200 metres despite drawing a wide gate (10). Fixed odds: $3.80 & $1.70.

4:39 p.m. R7 11 Family Ties (4 m Contributer – Glamazon) – Niranjan Parmar (a1); she resulted consecutive thirds in the Rating 75 1600 metres on 11 November at Te Rapa, and wasn't far away when fourth in the $25,000 Rating 75 1600 metres on 13 December at Hastings.
