Te Akau Te Aroha Preview
13 May, 2014
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the eleven-race programme on Wednesday May 14 at Te Aroha.
As on Tuesday May 13 the conditions were: fine and Heavy10, rail out 6 metres.
10:55am R1 3 Bon Marche (2 g Nom Du Jeu - Las Vegas Lass) - Matt Cameron; makes his debut from barrier nine in the 2YO 1000 metres. He first trialled here in December last year when running home strongly for third over 650 metres on good footing and more recently rounded off solidly for second over 800 metres on dead ground at Cambridge. He is a naturally athletic young horse and warrants a start on what he has shown thus far.
11:25am R2 8 Madame Jamai (2 f Minstrel Court - Palais Jamai) - Matt Cameron; displayed natural dash to cross and lead, before steadying to third and working home solidly for fourth when debuting on April 14 in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on Dead6 footing at Pukekohe. The form out of the race is good, with the winner Alter Ego (Bachelor Duke) having since won again at Te Rapa. She has the gate speed to negate a wide draw in the 2YO 1000 metres and should go well again if she appreciates the footing. Her dam Palais Jamai (Grand Lodge) won at two over 1100 metres and sire Minstrel Court (Danehill Dancer) was impressive winning as a two-year-old.
11:55am R3 8 Milan Miss (4 m Darci Brahma - Falaniella) - Matt Cameron; worked forward wide and was just outsprinted over the concluding stages when resuming on April 25 in the Benchmark 85 1600 metres at Avondale, in a race won by Telepathic (Mossman). Back in grade and up to a more suitable distance in the Benchmark 75 2100 metres, she is a genuine performer that has won and placed on slow/heavy ground and has what it takes to prove competitive.
3:55pm R10 5 Clos De Tart (4 m Darci Brahma - Rapid Kay) - Matt Cameron; could have done better than her fourth but for being checked on straightening, when resuming on April 25 in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres on Dead5 footing at Avondale, in a race won by Katie's Cove (Zabeel). A debut winner here over 1200 metres in April last year on heavy footing, her wide barrier may prove an assist by this time of day in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres and she has the ability to match most of her rivals.
