Te Akau Te Aroha Preview
20 October, 2015
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the ten race programme on Wednesday 21 October at Te Aroha.
As on Tuesday 20 October the conditions were: cloudy and Good3, rail out 5 metres.
12.53 p.m. R2 8 Echezeaux (4 m Encosta De Lago - Grand Echezeaux) - Matt Cameron; makes her debut in the Maiden 1400 metres, after finishing fourth at the trials. A half-sister to five time group one winner Darci Brahma (Danehill), winner of five stakes races Burgundy (Redoute's Choice), and Saperavi (Stravinsky), all stallions, she has plenty of quality family members before her. While her dam Grand Echezeaux won the Australian Oaks (Gr. 1, 2000m), she also had the precocity to win over 1200 metres. Great to see her at the races, plenty lies ahead when stepped over ground and she could prove a top four chance in this field.
2.05 p.m. R4 10 Carmenize (3 f Any Suggestion - Zevita) - Cameron Lammas; finished fifth in a solid field in the Maiden 1150m at Waipa, after looking the winner until being swamped late over 1200 metres on debut at Matamata. Up in distance for the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres, she meets an even line up and the application of blinkers should help her cause.
3.15 p.m. R6 13 Spritz (3 f Thorn Park - Spray) - Matt Cameron; quickened late for a close second when trialling recently at Te Teko, and makes her debut from barrier two in the Maiden 1200 metres. A half-sister to the group one place-getter Corsage (Volksraad), and talented five time winner Miss Thorn (Thorn Park), she boasts great mare Seamist (Beaufort Sea) as her grand-dam. From the draw, she is ideally placed to give a bold performance in this field.
4.25 p.m. R8 11 Astrid (3 f Pins - Astralita) - Matt Cameron; registered a strong performance to win the $12,000 NZB Pearl Series 3YO Fillies Maiden 1200 metres on 1 April at Matamata, with this rider aboard, and resumes in the Rating 65 1200 metres. She has come on appreciably since a quiet trial on Oct. 5 at Te Teko, and has an affinity with this course. Although plenty of improvement will come from the outing, she boasts the right form give some cheek with luck in running
