Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Thursday 3 January at Te Aroha.

As on Wednesday 2 January the conditions were: cloudy and Dead4, rail true. Showers forecast race day afternoon.

 

1.07 p.m. R2 16 Jet Set (4 g Savabeel - Society Lady) - Shafiq Rusof; is currently second on the ballot but likely to gain a debut start in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. He has trial experience and receives an ideal opportunity to produce an encouraging performance.

2.17 p.m. R4 1 Full of Grace (4 g O'Reilly - Tuesday's Child) - Nik Bakar (a4); spelled in May following a very good victory over 1400 metres at Ruakaka, and finished strongly for third when trialling recently at Waipa. Claiming to 55kgs in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres, he shapes to appreciate further and finding the line encouragingly would set him up.

4.07 p.m. R7 1 Beaumarchais (5 g Savabeel - Almaviva) - Opie Bosson; resumed with a notable effort for third in the Rating 82 1200 metres on 17 November at Tauranga, and made good ground for seventh in the Rating 82 1500 metres on 8 December at Ellerslie. He has good form around him and rates an each way chance in the $25,000 Rating 82 1600 metres.

4.07 p.m. R7 8 Mazzuro (4 g Rip Van Winkle - Mini Pearl) - Shafiq Rusof; should have derived benefit from his fresh-up run in the Rating 72 1500 metres on 13 December at Ellerslie, and contests the $25,000 Rating 82 1600 metres. From a classy family, he campaigned very well through the autumn in Melbourne, winning twice to 2100 metres and registering a second and third from four starts.
