Te Akau Te Aroha Saturday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Saturday 10 April at Te Aroha.

Weather: fine, track: Dead5, rail: true. Showers forecast.

2.35 p.m. R4 6 Feelin' Fancy (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Frivolous) - Danielle Johnson; gave the rider her 1000th career win on 17 February at Te Aroha, coming from second last to score in the Maiden 1400 metres, and stepped in grade finishing second in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 10 March at Otaki. Given time (31 days), she rates a top four chance with luck from barrier 13 in the $22,500 Rating 65 1600 metres. Fixed odds: $8.00 & $2.80.

4.20 p.m. R7 1 Avantage (5 m Fastnet Rock - Asavant) - Opie Bosson; made it eight Group Ones when defending her title in the Weight-For-Age Classic (Gr. 1, 1600m) on 27 February at Otaki, clocking a smart 1:34.0, before bowing to stable-mate Melody Belle (Commands) in the Bonecrusher NZ Stakes (Gr. 1, 2000m) on Auckland Cup Day (13 March) at Ellerslie. She quickened boldly into second when trialling on 31 March at Matamata, and warrants favouritism in the $200,000 Fibre Fresh NZ Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m). Fixed odds: $1.80 & $1.10.
