Te Akau Te Aroha Trials' Report (Thur)

Te Akau trialled horses on Thursday 29 October at Te Aroha. 

The footing was rated Good3, rail true. 

Heat 1 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (1 length, ½ a length 57.8)

3 f Showcasing - Louders - Mahammad Hanafi; raced three wide with cover beyond midfield and ran home solidly over the last 200m for fifth.

Heat 2 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (2 lengths, 2 lengths 58.0)

3 g Savabeel - Starring - Cameron Lammas; positioned in sixth, he saved ground turning for home and just peaked on his run after getting to third at the 100m.

Heat 3 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (Dead-heat, 2 lengths 1:00.1)

Bounteous (3 f Saperavi - La Conga) - Cameron Lammas; got back in running, being checked early, but ran on strongly in the straight under minimal urging for fourth.

Heat 4 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (½ a length, head 59.2)

Coincidence (3 g Savabeel - Read My Lips) - Michael McNab; travelled keenly back in the field, but quickened well in the straight before losing a bit of concentration over the final stages.

Heat 5 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (neck, 8 lengths 58.5)

Fas (3 g No Excuse Needed - Scarlet Queen) - Michael McNab; raced kindly in third, peeling into the clear on straightening and although coming to the end of it 100m out he still fought hard for third.

Heat 6 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres (neck, 1 length 58.1) 

Paradise Rock (3 g Fastnet Rock - Apple Charlotte) - Michael McNab; settled just off midfield and galloped on boldly but was unable to get into the finish over such a short trip.

Heat 20 Maiden 1400 metres (head, 2 ½ lengths 1:26.4)

Bordeaux (4 g High Chaparral - Our Echezeaux) - Michael McNab; travelled well, midfield on the rail, and once clear in the straight he produced a bold gallop for a close second.
