Te Akau Te Rapa Friday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Friday 2 October at Te Rapa.

Weather: fine, track: Dead6, rail: out 8 metres. No rain forecast.

1.37 p.m. R3 7 Bak Da Master (6 g Mastercraftsman - Bak Da Princess) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); won on the flat in July and recorded his second win during this campaign in the Maiden Hurdle (2900m) on 11 September at Hawera. Ideally drawn (1), with weight relief to 52.5kgs in the $27,500 Rating 74 2100 metres, he lacks nothing in fitness and is capable of a solid effort if he relaxes.

2.47 p.m. R5 7 No Limits (3 c Savabeel - Make A Wish) - Danielle Johnson; found
the line for fifth on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres on 12 August at Taupo, before tying up
late on Slow8 footing in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 9 September at Te
Rapa. Destined for
more distance, he steps up from a wide draw (10) in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres
and improving ground should aid his prospects.

3.57 p.m. R7 1 Challa (4 g Dissident - Are There Any) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); has trialled well since last racing, with a win and two seconds, including a second here most recently on 15 September. Stakes' placed, a fresh-up winner last season and runner-up three times, he claims to 56kgs and ideally drawn (3) to resume with a good effort in the $22,500 Rating 65 1200 metres.

4.28 p.m. R8 3 Te Akau Caliburn (6 g Camelot - Enchanted Evening) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); followed
a win in February with a brave last start effort for second in the New Zealand
St Leger (Listed, 2600m) in March at Trentham, and worked home well into second
when trialling here on 15
September. Claiming to 53kgs and handily drawn (4), he should be finding the
line strongly in the $32,500 Open 1600 metres if able to replicate his trial
performance.
