Te Akau Te Rapa Friday Preview
17 April, 2026
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Friday 17 April at Te Rapa.
Te Rapa:
Weather: showery, track: Heavy10, rail: out 9 metres. No rain forecast.
1:25 p.m. R3 12 Timeless Beauty (2 f Wootton Bassett – Lady Iveagh) – Craig Grylls; she received an economical trip settled fourth on inner, quickened into the clear on straightening, and kept up a strong gallop to win a trial on 17 March at Taupo. Debuting in the $20,000 Maiden 2YO 1100 metres, she is by Champion Two-Year-Old Colt Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj), and her dam Lady Iveagh (More Than Ready) won over 1000 metres in Australia. She's won two of her three trials, and if she can handle the Heavy10 conditions, she should race competitively in her first race day appearance. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.80.
2:00 p.m. R4 3 Sibling Rivalry (3 f Satono Aladdin – Justlikeyasister) – Wiremu Pinn; she stretched out well from back on the inner to finish third in the 3YO 1200 metres on 14 March at Tauranga, and contests the $35,000 3YO 1200 metres. She made an impression with consecutive wins before Christmas, displays talent and tenacity, and she rates a top three chance in solid field. Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.80.
2:35 p.m. R5 7 El Viento (5 g El Roca – Mandeville) – Craig Grylls; he secured a nice position in fifth on a competitive pace and remained held together while running home nicely in a trial on 24 March at Avondale. Resuming in the $40,000 Open Handicap 1400 metres, he has been freshened following consecutive wins in December, handles give in the ground, and outside draw (12) may yet prove advantageous. Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.40.
