Te Akau Te Rapa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has one horse entered for the nine-race programme on Saturday 31 January at Te Rapa.

As on Friday 30 January the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 7 metres.

1.35 p.m. R3 2 Unsurpassed (2 c Exceed and Excel - Alamantra) - Matt Cameron; jumped smartly and held together while dictating a moderate tempo he then quickened up nicely in the straight to record a dominant debut win on Jan. 11 in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres at Hawera. He had shown all the right attributes for a young horse in winning his two trials prior. He should receive all favours from barrier four in the 2YO 1200 metres and given his exploits thus far he rates a strong chance. From an unraced mare by Elusive Quality, his grand-dam is the champion mare Champagne (Zabeel) who registered group one wins in the MacKinnon Stakes and Ansett Stakes and finished second in the Melbourne Cup, AJC Oaks, and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
